Trusty mechanic says leak is coming from font engine timing belt cover gasket and the coolant is walking out through the bolts. Also might have a leak at the plennum gasket. He called a indy LR guy who said there's a TSB on this and the DII's are known for this problem. Already fixed the...
Hijacking!
This past winter a friend was driving my DII for short trip and put the drivers side window down. Won't go back up. I pull the panel. Motor turns and can hear what sounds like gears grinding against each other. Put the window up by hand about 2 inches and it goes up on it's own...
My rover, a 2001 DII, sucks in the snow. I'm thinking it's the tire choice. I have 265 Cooper Discoverer ST. Great in everything else, but in snow, the rover has a mind of it's own, and the TC is constantly on. My wife drives a 98 trooper with Cooper Discoverer M&S and it runs circles around...
Paragon is pretty cool for what it is. Been there a bunch. Wish we had vast expanses of "wilderness" like CO with a bunch of old logging/mining roads and trails here in the mid-atlantic.
A couple of years ago I started creating a GIS map of off-road worthy legal trails in this great state of PA. I have a family cabin in SW PA close to Ohiopyle, PA and have mapped some of those as well as some forest roads I've been on. Too bad we can't lobby DCNR/Forest Service to allow access...
Yes I was a member of ROVERS a few years ago. Recently I've noticed more adventurous looking rovers of all shapes and sizes in the York area and thought I'd attempt to reach out to see if they are here. Not that I'm not a ROVERS fan, but if there is a York contingent that would want to meet up...
pschuler: I graduated from Towson U (Towson State U. in the day) and lived in Hereford for a while.
tikicar: Yep, was I that you saw. Sorry for the delayed "rover wave". As usual I was looking at everything but the road. Just saw your pm in my inbox. Sorry took so long. I sent you a pm...
Not that I'm aware. Only saw the rig a few times. Looks to have stock, but trimmed, front bumper and a stock winch mount w/winch. Didn't see any body damage.
Been off-road locally?
Looking for nearby rover owners and maybe getting together for wheeling, teck talk, whatever.
There's also a guy in Red Lion who has a DII and an older 110 (non-defender) 200/300 TDI. You here?
Non-tech, sorry.
Green 99-02 DII lifted w/winch in Spry, PA (York).
You here?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know this doesn't belong in Tech, but this spot gets most attention.
Any other Dwebbers close to York, PA?
Did you really think this thread was dead? I just couldn't let it die.
One last question. Shaft is rebuilt, but it's pretty stiff especially the CV/Double cardan. Is this normal with all new parts? It moves and once worked a little, it moves a little more freely, but it's still stiff...
It's 14 mm. 9/16 will work, but you'll need new nuts afterwards as you'll round them off. Don't raise the vehicle. Only need one wrench either side to get loose. For the front which had been rounded off, i used locking pliers. Worked like a charm.
Sometime after April of 2001 they...
South of York. I checked their website and the closest was the towanda location. Which is different from the Tonawanda close to Buffalo. There are apparently a ton in NY. Two in PA and none in MD.
I think it's odd too.
I may take you up on your offer.
Any other detailss?
Nori - sent PM. Yes, trying to do as file says. Its the centering ball that you popped out that is the problem. Mine is trashed.
Frickjp - was trying to figure out if you sent to fleet-pride or what. You answered question. Thanks. Since they have experience with Rovers, I may send to...
