The information from my other post the must haves are the crank sensor and the cam gear. Even with the new motor not having the sai. Can I still run it as is? I want to rebuild the 4.6 over the next year.
I got a good deal on a rebuilt 4.0. I have been getting a lot of great help on another post and wanted to get all the info on this swap together. What all needs to be done to get it run? There are no inspection or emissions where i live so a CEL is no big deal.I want to rebuild the 4.6 that's...
It currently won't start. It's acting like it's locked. I can't even get it to turn with the crank pulley bolt. I am heading back home tonite so I won't be able to mess with it until next weekend. Then I will be pulling the pan and getting ready to pull the motor. I am going to tear into the 4.6...

I found a 4.0 out of a discovery. It is under 90000 mmiles. The disco was in an accident. Motor started and ran well. No knocking oil looked clean. What parts should I use from my 4.6? Heads, intake, etc?
Had some time so I went and drained the oil out of it. It was really sludge and smelt burnt. Put in some Rotella that I had and it started right up. Problem was it sounded like a diesel and shock like crazy. Sounds like new engine time
I paid 1000 for it. In the past year it had trans rebuilt, lift installed, tires, all fluids in drive train and receipts for all the work. It looked new underneath. I took a chance on the motor. Having had a RRC for a few years I figured why not. i don't mind doing the big stuff it keeps me...
