and for the OP, I cut out my cross member, but I did not remove any tie rods. I did have to undo the oil cooler line just below the oil filter. When I re-install (again) I am going to replace the studs in the front cover with bolts.

I just dropped my oil pan to do my front cover... all put back together, but it looks like the oil pan is leaking. Can someone post up pictures if possible of where the sealant is supposed to go? I know the cruciform joints front and rear, but I'm tempted to just drop it, remove the gasket and...

I used LR plugs. No wires. Coil on plug. Second on the timing. Really a piece of cake job with a couple of different extension lengths to stack together. You have to reach deep into the head to get the plug, but may not have room to pull all of the extensions out.

Thanks for your help. I ended up putting an air chisel to the splined end of the shaft. There's a hole in it the kept me from smashing the splines. It came out but left the bearing in the housing. If I do end up replacing the motor, I'll have to get that out too it sounds like.

Has anyone rebuilt or replaced a motor on a Warn x8000i? I imagine an xd9000 would be the same. I've got the gears all apart and degreased, solenoid housing is apart, and the drum is off. I've also got the motor housing off, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the rotor out of...

Does anyone know what size the bolts are that are in the center of the hitch and go up? I have 1/2 inch and they thread but are loose. I don't think they quite fit. I tried m14, but can't seem to get it to go. I'll look around and see if I have some 9/16, but thought I'd ask too. Thanks
