If I'm at a dealer looking at a used Disco, would I be able to identify the cracked gears or is this something a shop would need to diagnose?

So would most agree that an 03 with 60k plus hasn't had this problem it's very unlikely that it's going to?

You are pinning the liners in your current engine to correct the problem or you have a different engine that you are pinning the liners in order to keep it from happening on the new engine?

I had the same thing happen on an old 3 series BMW. Turned out to be a leaky radiator. The thing would leak when warm during driving. I would add coolant and it would settle at a point just below the low line and stay there.

I thought the same. That is what the seller said. I think he may have meant that a little coolant was leaking from the head gasket and a little oil was leaking from the transfer case.

Thanks guys. What do you think the cost will be to fix the transfer case leak, do the head gaskets, and get the brakes done? I'm guessing $3 to 4k? I know the ABS fault could be lots of things but what are the worst case senarios?

Looking at an 03 S trim with 79K. Buyers inspection shows the following: 1. Tires in great shape 6/32 tread left. 2. Brake pads 5% left, will need to be replaced soon. No squeaking or squealing yet. 3. Slight coolant leak at transfer case. I have been topping off coolant every 4 months. 4...

Ok, so I've done some research by searching threads on this site. It appears either new top hat sleaves or pinning the sleeves will work without having to replace the engine. So, what is the cost involved in this?

Is the DII navigation system worth looking for an HSE? Without a full screen, I don't see how it would be very useful but of course I've never used it so don't know.
