When I installed the rebuild kit, I just bench bled the master cylinder first, then I manually bled each wheel cylinder. I haven't had any issues since then. It may not be according to the service manual, but it worked for me.
I had a spare D2 upper hose assembly, so I used the original hose from the upper manifold and the plastic T (didn't need to cut it). Then I used the original hose that went from the plastic T to the thermostat bypass for the new connection between the bleeder and the inline thermo housing. I...
I finished the thermostat modification this weekend and so far everything seems to be working well. Based on my ScanGauge, I have temp readings of around 188 to 190 at idle and 193 at highway speed. Where I really see a difference is when coming to a stop from highway speed. Before the...
I see similar temps for my D2 (193 on the highway, up to 204 in traffic). I changed the cracked fan blade and installed a new fan clutch last week, but there was no change in the temp readings.
DarthMole - what did the Optima gel look like? I think my blue top did the same thing this past weekend. (Exactly one month after the 36 month pro-rata warranty).
"I'm curious to hear other peoples techniques on getting those headbolts. And D90s and P38s dont count."
I used a 5/8 swivel, 3" extenstion, 1/2" ratchet and the handle from my floor jack (about 3') as a cheater.
John - I had the same observations when I tore mine down a couple of weeks ago (no steam cleaning or obvious damage to the gaskets). I was leaking coolant on each end of the heads.
Sold this weekend
I have four 16" steelies (purchased from AB) with genuine LR center caps & lug nuts. Fits DII. Local pickup in Austin, TX. $125 for all.
I had the wet carpet, wet headliner thing a few years ago. Dealer "could not replicate" (go figure). I put a thick bead of silicone sealer in the gutter (or whatever it's called) right above the A-pillar. It hasn't leaked since.
Aimee - you can refill the trans pretty easy with a transfer pump (get one of the plastic ones at Autozone or Wal Mart) and as they mentioned above, the truck needs to be running when you do it or else it will pour out (just like you experienced). Also, just in case, chock the tires good since...
Sorry to say, but it's probably your hub thats leaking. Does the leak look like a thick, black paste? If so, you'll probably need to replace the hub. When I replaced mine, you had to buy a new ABS sensor too (they came together). I'm not sure, but I think someone said you can buy just the...
Just curious,
What kind of temps do you guys see in normal operation? I use a Scangauge, and assuming the water temp indicator is accurate, mine runs about 193 degrees on the highway, and it will climb to about 202 sitting at a light. I guess since the A/C activates the electric fans, the...
Is it something in the Texas air? Mine started running rough last week. I have 78K miles and this is the first time it's done this since new. It hasn't thrown any codes yet. Please let us know what you guys find out.
