New stepper motor-help with adjusting bleed valve
I just put one in today for Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 and it works too.
But I REALLY need to figure out how to adjust the bleed bypass screw manually. Shouldn't have fooled with it but too late.
Turning it does not seem to make a big...
Doest this mean that the screw IS the adjustment for eliminating this code? Any idea (# of turns) from the top or bottom will get me back to normal?
Also, I know first hand the truck runs very well without the VSS and if it pops up again that's probably what I'll go back to doing.
Thanks for...
Well...I pulled the fuse to the ABS and it didn't bog or loose power like it did.
Trying to fix this I created another problem in that I've had the stepper motor in and several times and (like an idiot) fooled with the allen crew above the stepper. I'm getting a code P1316 excessive emissions...
Can someone tell me if the VSS and wheel speed sensors are tied together in some way. Still trying to figure out why the truck runs good without the VSS plugged in and like crap when it is.
I know at some point LR uses the wheel speed sensors instead of the VSS. On a 96 are the wheel speed...
It's way up in the upper right corner if you ar looking through the glove box. Put a coat hanger through from the firewall side and you should see it.

In an effort to figure out why my 96 Disco runs like crap (bogs down or chokes) when my VSS (brand new) is plugged in and runs like a dream when it is unplugged I bought an Actron 9180 that will display and record real time data.
I've cleaned the stepper motor.
I've recently put on 4 new O2...
Here are some great instructions I found on the AtlanticBritish web site. I followed these and it didn't take too long (make it a weekend job though). Pay attention to the part about removing the ECU otherwise you'll never find the two holes the route the cable. Be sure to look for the connector...
I'm having more or less the same problem as Eah with my 96 D1 in that when the VSS is plugged in it shutters and boggs down but no visible changed on the speedometer or tach. Rarely a check engine light but have experienced codes described by Chris above. I have already put a new VSS on and it...
I also have been dealing with this problem on my 96 Disco but with a different result. I came across a post on another site the talked about hesitation or bogging down. That person said to unplug it and see if the problem goes away. I did and it did. It runs better than ever. I bought a new one...
