I have a pair of ‘91 RRC hunter manual cloth seats I recently acquired to install in my ‘96 D1 and have only one problem: the seat backs do not recline and the adjusting knob on the seat bolster spins but no result. I can see a geared cam at the bottom of the seat back but no movement when turning the knob. Has anyone effected a repair on these seats or have an exploded diagram so I can fix them? Thanks in advance. Latarheel

The little adjustment wheel is probably stripped on the inside
I took it off and it’s perfectly square. Not sure how it functions and cannot see the cabling or mechanism from underneath the seat . Only 405 hunters shipped to us that year

Alright. I find it hard to believe the reclining mechanism would be shot in both seats. When I got my Hunter the adjustment wheel on DS was stripped. I dont recall wherein found a replacement.

Pry the cover off adjustment wheel will reveal a 10mm nut, remove nut inspect adjust wheel. Aft of the threads the body of the rod the adjusting wheel attaches to is 7mm, easy enough to access this to adjust. I recall having a ratching wrench stuck on this for a bit until I was able to source a replacement plastic adjusting wheel. YMMV, good luck.

Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. These seats have been in storage for awhile so assume they seized up and the plastic hex wheel stripped when attempting to adjust .

Hope it helps! Good luck!
Well, it seems the wheels are in great shape, no stripping but they both turn both ways , just no movement in the seat back. Passenger is vertical upright and driver aide reclined too far back so the drive mechanism must be off track. I thought maybe a workshop manual would have a diagram before I start disassembling the seat to effect a repair.
