We just found out today LRNA is bringing back the dealer Trek Series with the new 2020 Defender.

I will say, I am pleasantly surprised and what this means for the brand, going to hold off on getting too excited. That said, it sounds like the Land Rover of old is starting to show through.

How did you hear of this? I'm not at work this week, so haven't seen any emails.

Will there be a revival of the TReK events?

Come on, you are supposed to know all the details.

Came through via email to the managers yesterday. Most of them had no idea what it even was.

From the sound of it, it will be about an $85k investment on the part of each dealership which will include buying the vehicle and outfitting it.

Yes. Not sure if they will call it the TReK, but essentially the same thing with same air of competition in off road and navigation skills. Bragging rights for winning dealership.

I should have more info for you Monday!

That is a worthwhile investment for any dealership; a fair and square competition to see who's just flat-out better. None of the diamond dealer or camp activity crap that really doesn't mean anything to the customer and, by extension, the employee who can't brag about it.

If my evil ass was running it, I'd deliver the cars broken down into major assemblies, to provide a timed event for the service teams as a whole. You'd have to put the thing together before you can drive it. There's more to "adventure" than driving, so why not give the service team a place to shine brightly?

They could end up with a little reality web series for people to enjoy, if the competition is worth watching. It could be incredibly good marketin...

Wait. It's Land Rover. Nevermind. Just have fun out there. :ROFLMAO:

Cheers,

Kennith

I just saw the bulletin about it today. A dealership can only enter if they are ARCH compliant. We are currently under construction, so I don't think we are eligible.

The new Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combo aka dual branded Jaguar Land Rover dealerships that have gone through the complete renovation inside and out. They even require black tool boxes, so my dark green Snap On box doesn't cut it.

Paint booth, rattle can, or new box? That's bullshit. RIP the lodge and off-road track days. Now your fuckin toolbox has to accessorize the customer's lifestyle.

They are just going to do built-in black boxes and work benches. In Manhattan, they gave all of the techs cans of plastidip and told everyone to paint their boxes. It looked to bad they ended up just buying built-in boxes.

Lucky 8 will be outfitting the NA TReK trucks. Pretty awesome opportunity for them.

Qualifiers are in the Discovery which Lucky 8 is helping outfit. The final event in January will be in defenders and probably good assumption Lucky 8 will be doing those as well.
