So what say you: with cost being no object, would you buy a new Defender or a new Bronco?

There are some Bronco vs Jeep vs Defender articles out. Here's the thing, the Defender only comes in one flavor. Yes, they have some "packs" for it, but nothing like the Rubicon or Sagsquash models the Jeep/Bronco come in. So the "vs" articles used the Limited Wrangler edition and... well I forget what edition of the Bronco they used. Anyway, the Defender came out on top in the article I read. I mean vs the almost base models of the J/B it had better attack angles, clearance, etc, and on the pavement, of course, those two can't hang with a Defender. Now if you compared tricked out Wrangler/Bronco's vs the Defender it becomes what it should be. Offroad the J/B win and the Defender takes the creature comforts/lux side of it. That's why I say, if one decides to buy a vehicle, and makes a wish list, I just don't see how the J/B and Defender end up on it. No more than I see a J/B and an Escalade, or Cayenne or.... you get the point.

Don’t know if I can agree with that. The Pretender has been marketed based on its “rugged” and off-road chops.

Yeah, and I guess drinking your piss could be touted as a cure for COVID, that doesn't make it so. Oh, wait... sarcasm right.....

Sorry, I could only take your statement that the Defender was a rugged off-roader as sarcasm. Way out there sarcasm. So I responded in kind.

LR literally said that the new Defender is the most capable vehicle that they have ever made. LR also thinks that there is no market for a utilitarian offroad vehicle so...

I feel JLR knows there's a market, it's just not "their" market. They can't see what's ahead of them because they're too busy looking down their nose.

Is the Bronco IFS and Rear floating? You know I like the Raptor, but they are as common as the Jeep and seem so poser, I might just do F150 moded.

If the Bronco goes the same way it will turn me off too. Not sure what it is about me but I hate driving what everyone else is, so the defender wins in that, but loses in utility for me.

Pretty sure if I wanted a real off road vehicle I would just dump into my D1 MULIGAN more and if I wanted a smooth ride I would keep the P38 going or get an '08 RR.

But....if I keep making $$, I think I would like something that drives itself. If the Rivian will do that, I might be in.

I have now been in a few Tesla. I really like them. But their SUV sux.

I think that Bronco roof is going to leak. Not sure how they lock a steering axle unless it has some kind of inhibbit, like maybe it only locks in crawl mode?
Those look like the same axles Rover uses, and the dash looks very much like the dash on a Defender.

Are there not lockers for IFS trucks?
I thought Rover used a modified Dana? Since the Bronco is available stock with 35's I highly doubt they're the same though.

Probably not identical internals to deal with that, but from the outside that thing looks the same. Lockers in the rear only. I'm not aware of any manufacturer locking a steering axle. Isn't the Bronco IFS ?

Chevy Colorado ZR2 offers a front locker in IFS from the factory. I don’t see why putting one in IFS v solid axle would be such a challenge

As does the newG wagon. This wont be your typical Rover/Yota IFS. In order for them to run 35s stock, the diff has to be up to the challenge.

Just ignore him. He goes away eventually.

Well look at you. Reading the whole post before you reply. Of course it was only one sentence. So that begs the question, at what point does the whole reading thing make your head explode and you say fuck it, and post even stupider shit than the stupid shit you post when you actually do read.
