I was able to pick this up from a friend to clean up and flip. The five speed is sooooo much fun but it is time for it to go.

Land Rovers to the moon!!!!

GLWS. I’m going to message you after the auction is over for your number to ask you about the BaT process and your thoughts/opinions if that’s alright. I have a Samurai I am going to sell and am thinking about doing it on there as the last one just sold for $12,750 on BaT which was well above what I thought it would go for. The end of auction bidding wars get crazy.

Whoever sold the last one on BaT was doing a total flip job. Selling it as a JX, but it was base. It had been used as a RV/Camper flat tow vehicle. Relatively decent shape; however, soft top with removable hard top which don’t usually go for that high of a price compared to the tin top ones.

Mine is an 86 JX all original, extra tops and a few interior panels, original paint with a few blems around, a slightly tweaked rear bumper, but CA car it’s entire life. Zero rust except for slight surface corrosion on the differentials/lowest axle surfaces. I’d be happy if it got to half the last one on there sold for and would probably have a heart attack if it went the same way as the last one.

BaT gets those bidders that are obsessive and really want that specific vehicle type. The less common they are, the more wild the bidding. It makes no sense. Amazing rebuilds of some series trucks on there go for much less than they should while repainted and re-wheeled 110s go for 3 times what they should.

Lots and lots of good to great photos and stay engaged with the auction.

My Disco sold there for $15k long before they started going up recently: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-land-rover-discovery-4/

Now more of them are fetching that price, but I got that price when they were fetching $6k for the great ones.

However the BaT peanut gallery has turned into the twitterfaceplaceasshole of the world lately and it's just a 100 a car day auction house.

So better pictures, more pictures (pull the goddamned rails and photo underneath the carpet!) and staying engaged through the entire auction, every day, answering every question will net you a premium.

Photos sell a vehicle. Period. And photos can make a 1-6k difference in what you get. If you suck at photos then hire someone. That few hundred will pay dividends.

This is what i will say about BaT.

First, they are slow. I paid my $100 and it took a month before I was assigned an advisor. Then it was another week to get listed. The advisor was not all that great. They write up those cheesy descriptions. I made a couple changes but in the end, what sells the vehicle is pictures and being engaged on the comments.

Would I use BaT again. Well duh, i just sold a D1 for 22k. There is no other auction site with more reach than them
