How to best safely sell a gun?

I have a spike tactical 5.56 AR-15 I’m looking to sell, and I really have no idea the best/safest way to sell it. Any advice out there?

Should i meet at a gun range so they can test it out? Just meet in a parking lot? Im not keen on having strangers from online come to my house, so I’m a bit lost on the best way to go about it. Im in Tennessee if that matters.

i would say the range is probably the safest way. I would avoid a parking lot as they could have people waiting to try to rip you off.

Your local police dept/sheriff may have a program to encourage people to meet at the station to safely do a sale. You can always call and ask, at least you're not in a gun-unfriendly state.

I have done them in parking lots, but I try never to go alone and make sure it's in a well-populated area during the day. And NEVER have them come to your house.

I bought my first rifle, years ago, alone in an Academy Sports parking lot. I lived, but it was a little sketchy. I’d say the range, with a buddy standing by on site with you as both backup and a witness would be the soundest and best choice.

I always sell on gunbroker.
I’ll check that out.

edit: that looks like an amazing option actually. Exactly what I’m looking for.

Thanks for all the advice folks. I definitely didn’t want to roll the dice with a stranger for a gun sale, so gun broker looks like what I’m gonna try.

if anyone has any recommendations for a duck hunting 12gauge, I’d love some input. I hunt a few times a year, but I’m also willing to put the entire sale amount (hopefully $1000-$1500 with all my extras) into a shotgun, waders, and other gear so I can stop borrowing my buddy’s stuff every hunt

Super Vinci, Benelli.

I cant shoot for shit, but this make is awesome. I shoot better than some friends and my Benelli is 19". But the birds we shoot are pretty close.

I appreciate it! I decided to keep the AR. I'll look into that shotgun too though!

On a side note, someone put a big ass ring on that shit. Can't say I blame them. Edit, sorry wasn't relative. Came across that looking for the above vid and assumed it was a shotgun. Not going to delete it because it's gun porn.
