Coolant and white smoke issues

Hello Good People,
Hoping All are doing well. My recent Rover concerns is I have been noticing some white smoke coming from the tailpipe when going from 1st gear to 2nd. I imagine I do not see it beyond that because at that point the truck is moving much faster.

I am not having to add coolant often, yet after driving I will check the coolant reservoir level which looks low. Upon slowly removing the reservoir cap the coolant level increases and looks to be at its proper level. I do not add more because I know it would be too much.

From time to time I may get error code P1316.
The truck does not over heat.
There is no coolant leak on the floor.
There is no coolant overflow from the reservoir.

What should I be looking at?
T.I.A.

Theoretically you shouldn’t need to add coolant.

Determine the rate of loss. When the engine is cold before you drive it, mark the coolant level on the expansion tank. Then after a few days or few hundred miles compare the level to the mark, again, when cold before you drive it.

Also you can pull each plug and look inside the cylinders to see if any piston looks whiteish like it’s been burning coolant. If so, likely the plug will look fouled also.

You say your not loosing any coolant. It doesn’t bother me that the level moves from hot to cold. I would think you would have some misfire codes if you had coolant in the cylinder. Look at the plugs. If a valve stem seal is causing it you’ll have crusty shit growing on the plug

Pretty sure that’s the code you get when the exhaust guides are sticking
Yep, sticking exhaust valves will throw p1316. Because that creates an excessive emissions misfire condition. Then that scenario probably wouldn’t be related to the white smoke issue.

But if the code is being caused by coolant/unburnt fuel, looking into the cylinder should show signs that he is burning coolant.

I think we need more or better information before we can diagnose it correctly.
