Hey folks,

Went to fire up the D2 after its been sat for a long while with a flat battery. New battery fitted and it will only turn over once, wont start and then I get a bong and the mileage starts flashing,

When I parked it up, the front windows had stopped working and the temperature gauge always went the top with the warning light lit so I was expecting to have to deal with some electrical problems but a search of the forum is pointing me towards the BCU. Like a lot of discoverys, the sunroof/roof leaks like a sieve so I was imagining some water damage somewhere

Any suggestions on what to do?

I have an Autel ap200 diagnostic unit/app which I have used on my D3 and seems to do something with the D2 but not sure what I will need to do to resolve this

Just to be clear, nothing has been swapped or changed and it ran perfectly well (as well as a 21 year old disco will run) for several years prior to being parked up last year.

Any help greatly appreciated.

BCU needs reset, if you have access to a Land Rover T4 or similar to do the reset.

Does T4 mean very expensive professional kit that probably costs multiple times the value of the vehicle??

All I have is some basic diagnostics (autel) and a vehicle that I can move :-(

Re the crossed B flashing, I didn’t see one but will have a look in the morning.

Might need to run to it to the LR Dealer!

So it’s likely the BCU needs a reset and a Nanocom can definitely do it. Is that correct, if so may have look at borrowing one?

It wont start and its got no MOT, its going no where! :)
No MOT inspection over here, maybe some states check mechanical issues but the Federales are most interested in emissions. So you could be driving a dangerous lump, but as long as the tailpipe emissions are within spec. Bob's your uncle.

A lot of Rover shops use a diagnostic tool called Autocom. Too pricy for most of us owners, but finding a Rover shop with an Autocom set up with the DII software is an alternative for resetting the BCU.
