Are there any that are not junk still available?

I've gone through SKP, URO, atlantic british "OEM", those are the ones that fit. Duralast and some korean brand were too big to fit in the fan. got dents in the hood from a few not letting go when they should have, some seem to freewheel at operating temp until there is a sudden acceleration then the clutch kicks in.

Redid the cooling system in my D1 about 4 years ago. Purchased my fan clutch from Rovers North. Fit without issues and still working well. Hayden is also a good choice.

Hayden clutches are junk. They don't have a crisp engagement/disengagement action of a proper LR clutch, and instead drag on forever.
Not sure about the brands of OEM clutches, but I've had good luck with all I ever bought at Atlantic British or LRDirect.

Whatever unit you choose I suggest applying a little bit of anti-seize to the threads. It'll be a lot easier to remove it next time.

I run a Hayden severe duty (Texas) and while it sucks power, ive yet to have one let me down. Ive run them on several trucks. Just my $0.02
It has a couple of different ways to redeem itself - either ruin your water pump, or break the fan with blades flying through the hood or into the radiator.

15,000 miles later and neither has happened. So id have to politely disagree. I did replace the blades at the same time too

around 10 years ago I did the gm clutch on one. thats close enough to hd to know that I dont want that. during an ice storm the light by LR FtW turned green and the fan went boom as I reved it up

15k isnt much. Id be careful in freezing weather with that hd clutch

I have sold hundreds of AllMakes cheapies and haven’t had a complaint or warranty claim

many years ago (I was still in Fort Wayne) I installed a Hayden. A week later the client called and ripped me open saying one of the Chicago dealers had claimed it had caused his water pump to fail…

I told him I’d warranty it if he returned it-the dealership kept it!

can’t please everybody

Mine did that with a non-HD gm clutch.
