Can’t you relocate the rear heater lines? Know it’s done on the LR3 pretty regularly and would eliminate the spacer need. More surprised a tire that tall doesn’t hit on the front frame horns on an LR4

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Spacers is just one strategy, but not optimal unless you're fitting LR3 18s anyways. Frame horns is what I meant by "chassis protrusions", and yes they rub when turning.

Sell it. If I had time, energy and space i would keep. It is a driver not some perfect restore. Same with 01 H&H. Both can go ASAP, price might vary about 2k depending on effort I put in before sale.

Both have all fluids, belts and hoses in past year (I think).

Photos?

Dang. There are some decent LR4 out there. At present it is looking like the D1 is going to stay with me. Just too good of a beater to let go.

The P38 H&H is gonna be replaced with the LR4, I will keep the LR4 stocker I think.

Anyone towed a camper or trailer with LR4?

Any thought on weight, size, mountain towing?

I haven’t towed with a LR4, but have a L322. It should have plenty of power for the hills if you get a V8. Biggest issue is that it will probably really eat through some brakes, but you’re probably used to that.

I've got a LR4 for sale. Very good truck overall and maintained by a rover family. Was daily driven until recently. Under your budget but gives you room for upgrades as needed.

Yes I saw it. If it were local I would come see it. I still need to clean the driveway and am likely to hold out for fewer miles and HD package. Nice looking LR4 though. Dig the color. Reminds me of my RR color.

Are brakes as easy as p38 or D1?

If I do tow trailer it will have brakes

@Tugela

I assume you are talking about the D1. For now I am keeping it, at least until I have the LR4 and have some armor.

The P38 H&H is going to go soon. Trying to determine how to sell. Considering BAT.

Its not perfect, but it is 100% stock and 95% working.

Been towing a 5000lb trailer with the LR4 and a Reese proportional brake controller the last few days. Tows well for what it is. The weight and air suspension are advantages., but the relatively short wheelbase means a trailer will push it around a bit more. Power is fine, but the transmission occasionally searches for gears. This may be related to my 32.2" tires. Don't modify the exhaust if you want a quiet ride when towing though. I did and although it's just right around town and on the freeway, it drones like crazy with the additional strain of a trailer. I think the sound waves are bouncing off the trailer and back into the cab too. Also, if you add a spare tire carrier, one of the best mods IMHO, you might not be able to open the back when hitched.

So.....

There are a lot of variables.

Wife does not wheel == keep 98 D1 as my beater it holds all I need and is currently maintainable.

what do you all think about 2014 range rover? for handicapped, (walker and such) all weather driving, snow, comfort. etc.

is it as reliable as 2013 LR4?

I know somewhat ambiguous question.

point of reference is she loves 2001 P38 H&H.

Whelp. Changing course. Wife wants to keep the H&H, so until something breaks, it is staying with us. Disco has to go and will be replaced with LR4, that I can build as long as it is drivable by my disabled wife (likes access height).

@Blue

Other than looks. Why do you like the APT sliders? With the "nerfs" and only bolts going into vertical part of sill, I wonder if they would torque and damage sill if you really used them.

It was MM3846 that mentioned the APT sliders. I don't have sliders and probably won't bother with them. I had a beefy set of sliders on my D2 and I literally NEVER touched them on anything.

Here's how mine sits today. Lucky8 CFE front bumper and Terrafirma roof rack also from Lucky8. I also installed engine and trans skid plates from Rimmer Brothers and a-arm skids from Prospeed (purchased from Lucky8, still waiting on the rears to arrive). Just installed the Rigid spot lights on the rack yesterday. Have to install the two little "scene" lights on either side of the rack and then wire them up. Also have to pull the front bumper to remove the winch solenoid box, fix a bad wire, extend the solenoid leads, and relocate the solenoid. There isn't enough room for the box to sit on top of the winch in this bumper and not enough room to work on it or remove it from the front access hole. Also have to secure the wheel arches to the body - the damn front tabs are broken on both sides, although I've come to like the duct tape look.
