Looking at a 2013 LR4 - main areas of concern?

I smell coolant every single time I walk by the LR4 after my wife comes home from work.
I would be looking into that. It’s probably one of your coolant outlets. Take a good look at the top of the trans(look from top). Look at the ledge in front of the vac. Pump. Look at the SERP belt tensioner near the water pump pulley. That’s your trifecta of usual suspects.
If you overheat a 5.0 it’s a damn boat anchor.

Thanks, I'll take a look whenever I can. It's been doing that forever. I am not sure if the water pump has been replaced when the crossover tubes were, my guess is yes.

That’s what I figured, thank you for the confirmation.

I installed a transmission pan skid plate and it’s touching this piece which is why I asked.

Just swapped in a new tailgate actuator and the LRP handle. It started acting up last week and I stopped using it, had to “break in” to the lower tailgate from inside the truck which fortunately wasn’t hard.

All buttoned up in an hour or so, but it isn’t the Land Rover pieces giving us any grief here….

Which plate did you get?
Sorry, didn't see your question until today. I bought the engine sump plate and the transmission plate from Rimmer Bros. The engine sump plate is "aftermarket" and the trans plate is Britpart. When I bought my LR4 the OEM engine sump plate was missing. Let me see if I can find the links.

Transmission Plate

Engine Sump Plate

The Rimmerbros photos don't do a good job of showing the two parts. Basically the same photos for each part.

I'll attach photos of them mounted on my truck. I am going to drill some holes in the trans plate to help get some air in there on the cats. I bought a 1-1/4" metal coring bit but I haven't had a chance to crawl back under there. I also need to install some spacers or stacked washers on the forward-mounting-bolts for the trans plate so it drops down to meet the overlapping engine sump plate. This will also pull the trans plate further away from the cats (and eliminate the trans plate touching that vibration isolator piece I asked about earlier). I think there are spacers that are already mounted on the OEM pieces under there but all this stuff was missing on my LR4 when I bought it - no stock pieces, bolts or anything under there.

The gas tank skid plate is the Tactical 4X4 gas tank skid.

I also just installed the Lucky8 CFE front bumper. Still fine-tuning it a bit and need to relocate the damn solenoid box. It doesn't fit when mounted to the top of the Terrafirma A1200 winch because of the truck's cross-bar located under the grill. There is plenty of space on the driver's side of the winch but the leads to the solenoid box don't seem to be long enough....hard to tell as there is no room to work in there through the front opening. Need to drop the bumper and work from the back to see what I can do. Overall I'm impressed with the bumper though. I also got the Proud Rhino skid plate that attaches to the lower lip of the bumper and extends back a bit. I'll still have a space between the PR skid plate and the engine sump plate though - I should be able to come up with something to put there, it's just a simple rectangle. Still waiting for my Terrafirma full roof rack and some Prospeed lower control arm skids to arrive from Lucky8 (waiting to come from overseas).

Really? AJ-8 engines were produced at a Ford plant, and used by Ford in many applications besides JLR.
It goes back to the times when Ford was buying premium brands left and right.
It's stamped on lots and lots of parts. I have a camera out of a 2012 sport right now and I plan to see if I can get one from a Ford dealership for less. The little 2.0 we ran befor the inginium 2.0 was the same block but the cylinder head is JLR's.
Land Rover Jaguar and Volvo were lumped together and called the Primier Auto Group. Then Volvo sold to a Chinese company, JLR went to Tata motors in India.

They make a little guy to fit in that gap, but yea its pretty simple.
