I’m looking for a user manual for the original Autologic blackbox land rover diagnostic unit. There is basically zero information on the black box unit anywhere, including the Autologic website.

I would greatly appreciate any helpful information.

Is that different than Black Box Solutions?
Yes. BBS is Nanocom, Faultmate and a couple others.

Autologic and Testbook were the two main systems that LR used in house. Eventually Testbook won the battle that the dealerships all use.

Land Rover never used autologic. Not that I’m aware of anyway. It’s always been Testbook then T4 then IDS then SDD and then Pathfinder and now Topix Cloud. If they just tried it at the corporate level there wont be much info if any from them.

The indie LR shop here has been using Autologic for a long time. Really powerful system but I think it was about a $10k investment for them.

Yea, same with the shop here. $10k is about right, maybe even more these days.

I believe the “black box” was the first generation from Autologic. I’m trying to get the information directly from Autologic but so far none of them are familiar with the old generations.

It’s hard to justify paying that if your not working on a lot of old Rovers. I personally see a few a year. I wish I had a good T4 but I never do anything about it.

I couldn’t justify spending a few hundred dollars for Hawkeye or whatever, let alone $10K. For the Series I thru D2 era, you really don’t need one.

My buddy’s father had a British shop and this unit has a glitch and has been sitting on a shelf for 6 years. I believe the fix will be relatively simple and then I can borrow it any time I want.

But the main reason for me is b it communicates with OBD1 trucks. So being able to see all the live data on my 95 RRC will be really cool.
