New D2 owner here. Every D2 I looked at, no matter how clean, had a rusty orange limiting strap pin in the rear. Curious what others are doing to mitigate this?

My initial thought is grind it off and put in a nutsert with a thread in pin from a truck tailgate cable retainer application (slim, flathead screw with factory anti-corrosion plating).

Curious what others have tried.

Here's what I'm talking about... the pin for the rear hatch limiting strap/arm -- from what I'm seeing, they all seem to be rusty.

This is what would be referred to as "California rust".

It's insignificant. Paint it it you like. Put grease on it to keep it form happening again I suppose. But I suggest you get on your back and start looking underneath those trucks to see rust that matters. And if you're in CA/the southwest with a truck from that area maybe you'll be lucky enough to not see any rust that actually matters.
