Transmission will throw a code when it is a fluid problem (as in, low pressure) because the torque converter won't operate properly. If yours works in one gear and not in the others then it may be the gear selector or selector wiring. It's not a mechanical connection even if it feels like one.

Will is going to hook me up with a good used unit. I’m convincing myself to do it myself. It’s not my primary vehicle so it can be done over a week or so in the garage. I can also solve my exhaust issues.
