On the 97 it has to programmed. The earlier models had a magic sequence to reset, but these are programmed. Have you tried your old fob? I was thinking there was a separate box for the alarm??? So I would think swapping out the ECU would leave the old fob working.
I havent been in the guts...
Greetings everyone.
I have had an Epic tale of woe recently and thought there might be some lessons you can learn from my experience. This is a bit long, so let me get a couple of Bottom Lines up Front: When a mechanic tells you something is broken, ALWAYS look at it yourself. Scrupulously...
Land Rover doesn't make the tubing for the rear AC anymore so its junk yards or fabbing the tubing.
And if the left rear shock mount disintegrates, the top of the shock will destroy those tubing assemblies.
dont ask how I know :(
So if I'm reading you right, this problem is related to turning the wheel and occurs at the same point in steering wheel rotation? That would seem to suggest that the problem is somewhere between the wheel and the gear box. Because of the reduction in the steering box steering wheel rotations...

Sounds like wheeling, what was the question again?

The super poor seat switch is probably busted. This happens to me with some regularity when my kids step on the switch climbing through the rover. That switch seems unbelievably fragile. Check the schematic and try cheating the switch to see if the motors work and its just the switch.
I was at the dealer looking for that UJ while I was replacing the steering box, and was told the whole steering shaft has been superceeded and it no longer has that joint in it. It looked like a better design. It was some bucks though.
cheers
