Bump! Make me an offer. These are just taking space in my shop now. Also included or available separately for trade-for-beer pickup: D1 V8 radiator (original and fine condition), Delphi fuel pump from 2020 (perfect), evap cannister, fuel solenoid.
No crossmember available, I'm still using it with the 300 TDI setup.
Anyone have any experience shipping a transmission cross country for a reasonable price? Any recommended carriers?
I use a Miller Maxstar 150 suitcase stick welder. It is awesome. It will run off 120 or 240. You'll get plenty of output for a bumper with 120. They can be found second hand for a few hundred dollars (I think I paid $300 for mine off Craigslist). I learned to weld with a stick welder so I am...
As far as I know they are the same on GEMS and 14CUX. The V8 R380 that was bolted to my GEMS 4.0 came out of a 14CUX truck. There were no compatibility issues, other than needing the trigger ring flywheel.
Has anyone sourced seat bottom covers for manual leather seats? Mine are torn to hell. I'm going to rebuild/replace the diaphragms and the foam, but need to do something about the dry torn leather (that doesn't cost $500 like the upholstery shop is asking).
Coming soon: a complete 4.0 and R380 out of my 1998 disco. The motor is original to my truck and has 200k miles. It runs well but has some top end noise when hot (It has not gotten noticeably worse in the last ~50k miles; I can take a video for interested folks). Head gaskets were done about 30k...
Once I pull the V8 GEMS drivetrain, I intend to sell the 4.0 complete with the R380. It has 200k, is still a good runner, but the top end has a characteristic RV8 tick when it's warm. But hopefully I'll recover some of the cost of the conversion.
Thanks for the information about the motor...
