The other pandemic - ugly rims

What's more, there isn't a vaccine for stupid wheels. No accounting for taste.

    INEOS Grenadier

There was the biggest vehicle marketing event of all time: the Camel Trophy. But that had already been going on for about six years by the time the Disco was released. I was living in Zimbabwe in the 1980s where we were lucky to get reruns of Dallas and the A-Team on TV, let alone any media...

You're assuming the Grenadier even makes it here by then.

    INEOS Grenadier

The end user in the design brief is not necessarily the target customer. Or at least is a subset of the marketing audience. Ineos is several hundred million pounds into this project and they need to sell vehicles to recover the investment. The typical $3,000 DiscoWeb truck owners are probably...

    INEOS Grenadier

You are focusing on the wrong thing. Who cares about a video? That's fluff. I suggest you read Peter Matusov's recent firsthand account of driving the Grenadier. His observations on the design, construction, and function are made with a critical eye and should be welcome insight for anyone...

    Rimmer Bros - frustration

I beg your pardon. But yes, her memory lives on.

    Beating an overheated horse

I installed a Nissens in my D1 in 2017 as part of a comprehensive cooling system replacement. It worked really well for about four years, then last summer I took a multi-day off-road trip with 5,000-foot climbs in triple digit air temps and the radiator struggled. Swapped in a 4-row...

    Engine Conversion Kit

There's often an exception to be made for commercial or industrial interests if the economic impact is large enough and the lobby is effective. For all of its perceived environmental credentials, Washington State has a track record of doing just this.

    RRS are $150k now?

An impersonal, automated version of "No lowballers!"

    INEOS Grenadier

That's a nice touch, but I'm not going to decide which version of the Grenadier to buy based on what kind of jacket comes with it. In fact, that won't enter into my calculus at all. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a cross-pollination of branding. Ineos has several hundred millions of pounds...

    Rimmer Bros - frustration

If it's any consolation, I ordered something from the UK on January 8 and it took 7 weeks to arrive. Strike at the Royal Mail, Brexit bollocks, bottleneck at US customs. If the vendor is not communicating or meeting expectations that's on them. Private international couriers should be able to...

Anything new in the spark plug wire world for my D1?

I've used Kingsbourne 8mm for years with solid performance, I have a set of STI in my spares kit.

Please post the response you get. Seller: I said serious enquiries only. Blue: I am being serious.

Don't waste my time with that junior varsity B-team soccer mom golf cart. Full fat is where it's at.

    Irony

That looks a lot like the JLR dealership in Fort Myers, FL. I went there as the only option for my LR3 when I was in town. I stood in the service pick-up/drop-off area for ten minutes watching their scrolling garage doors open and close. It was mesmerizing - like something out of Star Trek...

Brake dust shields - remove them?

I think that those things will find their way into every crack, opening, and imperfection in your vehicle whether the dust shields are installed or not. For a permanent, comprehensive solution, consider moving to the west coast. It's lovely out here, the access to vast expanses of public land...

    INEOS Grenadier

I used to wonder about this, too, as my LR3 does the same (thankfully a dash button allows me to disable parking sensor alerts, at least until I shut the engine off). My theory was that if you're not reversing straight back, there's a chance you could clip the front of the vehicle on something...

    INEOS Grenadier

Right there with you. Which is why I plan to take my 1998 LSE to the grave with me. I find the amount of technology in newer cars to be intrusive to the point of distraction (or needlessly complex - looking at you, Mercedes). You can turn most of that crap off, but you're paying for features...

    INEOS Grenadier

Interesting. I bought my LR3 instead of an LR4 for exactly these reasons: the reliability of the 4.4 compared to the 5.0. Maybe I was biased from reading too many horror stories about timing chain tensioner guides and coolant crossover pipes. My LR3 is at 170,000 miles and ran flawlessly on...

    Longevity Tips

Exercise for at least one hour per day, eat lots of vegetables, get about 8 hours of sleep every night, don't drink too much alcohol, laugh a lot, and keep your mind sharp. My grandma made it to 102 this way.
