    4.6 Rebuild Manual?

I worked very closely with Steven and I'm very happy with my build. I did my research and talked with him in-depth about the issues. That said, I'd never recommend dumping hard-earned cash into anyone without establishing a relationship first. Do your research and make your own decision.

    4.6 Rebuild Manual?

Also, I highly recommend "How to Power Tune Rover V8 Engines for Road and Track". It goes into tremendous detail about these engines and all of the things to focus on during the machining and rebuild. I've only seen it as an eBook on Amazon, but it clearly illustrates why the properly rebuilt...

    What's a dead engine worth?

There's actually a book about how to make an engine coffee table: https://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Engine-Coffee-Table/dp/1845848845

    Greg Davis Bumper Install

After destroying the stock bumper on my D2 for the final time, I decided to take the Greg Davis route and I'm very happy with the result! This is in no way a bolt on, though. Getting over that fact and convincing myself that it's a 70% complete fabrication project made the install go much...

How much a year do you spend on DII repairs, and separately, on gas?

I just bought an '04 Disco with the understanding that it will be a codependent relationship. I wanted the Disco after owning and giving up two RRCs in the past because I could not afford to keep them properly running (note that I live in a smog county). This time, I anticipate 11MPG with a...

Free: RRC LWB Headliner Shell - Austin, TX

I removed the headliner shell from my '93 LWB Rover to replace the fabric and decided that I like it better naked than with the headliner. So, now I have the shell in the garage taking up lots of wall space. I'd rather not throw it away since new ones aren't readily availble. If anyone wants...

Hot Start, Cold Start, and rough idle. Correlations?

Thanks, all, for the input. While my wife, friends, and innocent bystanders may disagree, these trucks are worth the headache. If you can't handle an occasional change of plan, get a Toyota. I'll start by cleaning the MAF and stepper motor, followed by plugs/wires. I cleaned the injectors...

Hot Start, Cold Start, and rough idle. Correlations?

Hi, all. my '93 4.2 is experiencing a set of symptions for which I'm trying to find correlation. Any assistance is much appreciated. Symptom 1: On cold start, the engine surges to 1000RPM, drops to ~200RPM and almost stalls, surges to about 1200RPM, and then evens out. This has happened to...

    1994 RR LWB Question

I drive mine daily 1200 miles/month in Texas and it's a great truck. However, when you do need to fix things it often takes a day or two to get the part delivered. I've solved that one by either working from home or getting whatever GM piece of crap Avis is offering for $25/day. Of, if the...

    What about a Toy engine?

You can build anything you want if you have the right ratio of money, time, and fabrication skills. It's definitely not a drop-in. Hell, this guy build the Family Truckster from Vacation for $7000. Not my cup of tea, but anything's possible. Personally, I'd make my RRC submersible like the...

93 Classic smells like fuel and stalls

Same for mine. It'd drip out of the rear right-hand side of the tank when full and being sloshed or when parked on steep angles. Without dropping the tank I was able to brush off the area arond the grommet and slather it with form-a-gasket. Three months and no leaking yet.

    Blown head gasket or ...

This perfectly describes my situation... I almost though I had submitted the post in my sleep until I saw the signature! I actually bought a left side manifold assuming it was cracked if anyone's interested. When you replaced the head gasket, did you also refresh the heads? My 4.2 reads...

    93 RRC Remote

Aftermarket Stereo and Keyless Entry Install

Since I use my RRC as a daily driver racking up ~300 miles a week, I decided to do some creature comfort upgrades to make the time more pleasant. Not that keenly watching gauges and listening for new noises of repairs-to-come isn?t engaging, but I needed the occasional distraction from the...

    Mileage on RRC?

Hybrid Rovers would be interesting. However, I think Diesel's the way to go in the long run. Mechanics are straightforward, but the challenge I've found is in the legality of engine swaps for newer cars. Converting gas to diesel is a sure way to get an "off highway" truck that won't pass any...

    Mileage on RRC?

True enough. Our Trooper with the 3.5 V6 and slightly less mass gets 15 coasting down hill. Even the new hybrid Tahoe is only getting 20. If I invested $40k, the cost of a Tahoe, into the RRC I could get better than 20.
