Need to get a winch from Maine to Georgia

I bought a winch in Maine and need to get it to Atlanta (or Frederick, MD or Charlottesville, VA). I've made arrangements to get it to either CT or NJ via the Rover Underground Railroad on the 30th. Anyone making a trip south from there anytime after that? Edit: I have it arranged, MA -> NJ -> GA

    Discovery fuel filter fitting type

I've never had a problem with my fuel filters so never really bothered to really identify the fitting type. I know they are M16 x 1.5 with an 'O' ring, but are they some sort of flare, ORB, or what?

    Wire & fuse calculator

I thought some people might be interested to know that BlueSea has a wiring calculator for Android and iPhones. Don't know about the iPhone one, but for the Android search the Google store for "circuitwizard". It's free.

Are you using Mobil 1 or K&N filters?

I came across this the other day: http://www.bullittarchive.com/5000/5003/Oil_Filter_Cut-Away_Comparison_Kit.pdf Note where the by-pass valve is located in the expensive Mobil1 and K&N filters. I've always trusted the Wix quality. Looks like the trust is warranted. I also use Baldwin B2's and...

What's the latest on bringing in 300Tdi's?

I know one I can get for a very good price with everything I need to covert one of my 109's. I imported one about 4 years ago with absolutely no issues whatsoever but I seem to recall seeing people having issues lately. Anyone one aware of such stories?

Single use head bolts vs studs

I've seen, on various forums, that it's not possible to get the same clamping force in the two head bolt lengths, 66mm v 96mm, and that's one reason studs are better. I've been curious about this claim and why Land Rover would use them if that was the case, so decided to write to a place that...

    SKF Crank seal number?

Anyone know of a SKF/CR/National seal that's equivalent to ERR6490 for the crank pulley? I could have sworn I had one on a shelf in the garage, but no joy.

    Cylinder head bolt washers

Did Rover quit using the head bolt washers, PN 602098, at some point? My wife's '97 4.0 didn't have any. Or did the last person who had the heads off just not reinstall them? Is there anything special about them? Any reason I can't just use a high strength thick washer for 30 cents as opposed...

    ERR4820 thread size?

ERR4820 is the heater feed connector that screws in to the inlet manifold that the reducing rubber hose connects to. The thread appears to be 1/2" NPT, but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. If it's actually 1/2" NPT I want to replace it with a hose barb that fits the heater hose and do...

    V8 Cylinder head interchangeability?

Am I correct in that cylinder heads from a '95 Defender 3.9 are the same as a '97 D1 4.0? I have a rebuilt pair from a Defender and it would be nice to not have to wait on getting the ones from the D1 rebuilt.

    Automatic Radiator in a 5-speed?

I have a rotted radiator from an automatic I'm getting a heavy duty core put in ($480) and am thinking of installing it in my 5-speed so I can hook the R-380 oil cooler lines to it. I removed the OE oil cooler to install my RE10000 about 10 years ago. It seems to me it should work fine, but...

Another Win for the "War on Drugs"

My brother is visiting from out of state. He has a nasty cold and is quite miserable so he went to the store to get some pseudoephedrine. Well, he's from out of state so they won't sell it to him, which means I have to take time off from work to go buy him some. Thank you politicians...

Transfer case swap sanity check please

Between searching and looking in the ETM I think I'm fine installing a '95 transfer gearbox (from a D90 w/R380) in to a '97 Disco w/auto without having to change any wiring and just there won't be any transfer interlock "safety". True?
