    Transfer Case Troubleshooting

Yeah I know the shift dog is inside the t-case. I just can't remember if there is a way to get to the diff-lock housing from inside or under and remove to inspect versus having to drop the entire t-case. Would prefer not to but it sounds like I'm gonna have to regardless. I guess ultimately I...

    Transfer Case Troubleshooting

Rear shaft is not spinning. I'd have to go out in the garage and look at the old case, but IIRC there is no way to inspect the shift dog even coming through the console is there? The CDL was definitely in the locked position when I moved it manually. That much I'm sure of. When I resealed...

    Transfer Case Troubleshooting

So I've had some grumblings going on with my t-case for a while. Mind you, this has been going on for over a year and while the truck ('03 D2) is drivable, there is something not quite right about it. Spoke to Will last week about a potential t-case replacement but before I go down that path I...

    New to me LR4

I agree on just driving but while my D2 has been a great vehicle, it's defined (or revealed) parts of my character. Some would even describe it as borderline hypochondriac. So wih the D2, while being a vastly different vehicle than the LR4, some parts I would replace before a long extended...

    New to me LR4

So seeing this, I'm wondering if I should pre-emptively replace the controller (or at least keep one on hand in the truck) and/or replace the flange as well. I would hate to get stuck somewhere in UT and go through this. Of course, there are a million other things that could go wrong but...

    New to me LR4

Any chance you could post the link here? I don't use FB and see that it is a closed group. How did your LR4 die in Utah?

    New to me LR4

Ok, great info. Appreciate it. To swedjen2, here is the cliff-notes version: Original engine and heads Recently did the heads at 160k Replaced oil pump, gears, front cover, timing chain, etc. at same time Always used Mobil 1 and now use high-mileage Mobil 1 Use LR filters typically Coolant...

    New to me LR4

So I bit the bullet and purchased a one owner, 2013 LR4 Lux model from a Land Rover dealership. It was too good of a deal to pass up with 69k on the truck. And I got tired of looking and waiting for an 09 LR3 to pop up that met my criteria. All that being said, while I actually enjoy...

help diagnosing drive plate and/or flex plate issue

To the OP, I went through this exact thing last year on my DII (230k). As to what the other post indicated, the flex plate fails from the center, outward. I think it will be difficult to tell with the housing off, even on a DI as it does not take much for the flex plate to begin making noises...

    Drastic reduction in MPG

Yeah winter blend does equate to loss of MPG but I've never seen it this bad. Typically it drops to around 11-11.5 for me. We drove to Baja last spring and that trip averaged around 13.5 (32.5 tires, bar up front, lift, full roof rack, loaded down, etc.). This time however, driving around...

Does anyone know what vacuum pressure should be at idle?

    Drastic reduction in MPG

All the O2 sensors have been replaced with new ones within the last 10k miles. No rough idle, all plastic vacuum lines are in good shape. Even though the D2 doesn't have a filter per se it is a part of the pump itself. I've always used premium in it since day one. When I did the heads on it...

    Drastic reduction in MPG

I had thought of that...but given the mountains I drive through (moved to the rockies) it still has plenty of pep for a 4.6 w/217HP coupled with the mileage. But I'll add that to the list just to rule it out. Here is the interesting thing, and it could be a huge coincidence, this all started...

    Drastic reduction in MPG

Since we are all LR owners we accept the MPG facts as dismal as they are That being said, dropping from my typical 12-13 MPG around town down to a new low this weekend at 8.8 leads me to post this and seek out some solutions. I started noticing the drop back in October when I decided to keep...

    Yes another 03 CDL post

Solved. Moved CDL shifter into locked position, backed up on pavement with steering wheel completely locked to one side and bam! Not bam as in something broke, but bam as in I freed the t-case. Now just gotta track down other vibration.

    Yes another 03 CDL post

Copy that. I've driven a few miles with it supposedly unlocked (shifter knob to the right towards passenger as far as it will go) to no avail. I also confirmed that I do not have the lucars connectors zip tied anywhere on the main harness so unless I want to splice into the existing harness...

    Yes another 03 CDL post

Jacked one wheel up, all others were on the ground and the lifted wheel would not rotate. That being said, the tcase will not unlock which is leading me to my issue. Even with the linkage disconnected and manually turning the nipple on the tcase it will not unlock. Any other tricks before I...

    Yes another 03 CDL post

So I finally got around to installing the D1 shifter into my truck which has had a locking t-case in it for over a year now. After reading basically all the threads on dweb as well as the discovery2.co.uk install guide and Rave I've come to realize I'm officially throwing in the towel. Here...

    Yup, another HG thread

Just when I thought I was clear on the direction it's back to being as clear as mud. I pulled one head last night; the other tonight. So far everything looks good. Yes, I've got the 180 degree t-stat; have had it on there since before the clock turned 100k and yes I''m planning on keeping it...
