P0327 - Knock Sensor Bank 1 - Low Input Voltage
I changed the knock sensors and this code still persists. My first question is what is Bank 1/A (i.e. driver's or passenger's side of the car)? As far as I can tell bank 1 or A is the LH side or driver's side. Could an exhaust leak cause a false...
I mean, I would definitely prefer this over a VW (water pump is like doing a HG) or SAAB, but I know BMWs like the back of my hand. I can do a full HG job in under 5 hours if I have another head sitting next to me. I don't think I could ever get it down that pat on the Rover.
I actually...
Yeah. I mean I have a lot of experience working on cars, just no LRs. I've probably done 50 HGs or so in the past. This one was hell though. So many little struggles here and there. My back and legs are killing me.
Also, I never sat in an engine bay to reach a bolt before this either...
So I dove in to do HGs, t-stat, water pump, etc. on the Disco about 3 weeks ago. Tore the whole thing down in a day and got the heads to the machine shop. Only struggle was the driver's side rear head bolt, but it finally came off. I then got really busy with school and did not have time to...
Ok. There are a few pieces from my HG kit that I did not use or even see for that matter. The most conerning are the 8 .25" thick by 1" in diameter rubber rings. There's 8 so, not valve train hopefully...
Also, there are a few gasket and copper crush washers that I did not use. FYI, I did...
Yeah...
I was just looking through their site. They really seem like the place to go! I have heard mention of $350 for a cam, lifters, gear, and chain...
True?
I have read around, but am an admitted noob when it comes to anything close to domestic or non-OHC motors. I have the '03 Disco torn down for head gaskets, head rebuilds, water pump, steering pump, thermostat, and maybe ABS shutter valve. Now that I am in here I am considering doing a cam...
Oh also...
Any advice on checking the lifters and rocker assemblies? I had an intermittent 'tick' that was REALLY loud. It really sounded like something was actually fumbling around in the heads. But as far as I can tell, things look great. One rocker assembly is darker in color than the...
Thanks for the help guys. Ended up getting it out yesterday morning. I think I was a little tired of working on it at 4AM and was not going to get anywhere. Woke up and got it out in about 30 mins the next morning.
I am REALLY surprised it came out. The head of the bolt was essentially a...
Any tips on getting the rear most, closest to the fender/booster, driver's side head bolt out. Mine seems to be torqued to 5000 ft/lbs. I broke a 1/2" drive and a swivel trying to get it out. I think the biggest issue is I do not have a straight shot at it.
Suggestions...
I've done some searching, but wanted to verify a few things...
1. Can you replace the ABS sensor without replacing the hubs?
2. What are the easy things to check first? My lights are intermittent, do not stay on at all times, and go out with an ignition cycle.
3. What is the spec for...
Just did it yesterday with my oil change...
I poured 1/2 in my oil first.
Let it idle.
Pull the VAC line for the charcoal canister where it enters the intake plenum (has a red ring around it).
Stuff a fuel hose in the open port and suck up the rest of the Seafoam via the hose with the engine...
Just as the title says. I am contemplating getting one, but I am also very mechanically inclined and have a shop at my disposal. I am trying to weigh the cost/benefit in my situation.
That was going to be the first thing I checked after the u-joint replacement. Common 'clunk' spot on BMWs.
Can anyone confirm if the diffs on these things were recalled?
Wow! Thanks for all the replies guys. As for the CV joint, where can I get a new one? I am used to wholesale BMW parts so I have always gotten OE or OEM direct replacements. Where do most of you guys shop for stuff?
That is exactly what I was look for from a maintenance standpoint. Thanks a lot!
I don't want to distract too much from my questions up top, but do you guys recommend a particular service manual? Looking around it seems most manuals are only advertised up to '02.
