Honestly not sure but they did mention they would have to block off cylinder/heads, etc to properly pressure test. I'm clearly not an expert here...
Based on your post and jymmiejamz should I just assume its impossible to diagnose the liner issue? Basically is the loss in compression only...
The shop was upfront that a visual inspection may not identify the problem. Especially with a liner issue. The truck overall has 102,000 miles on it and the block only having the 50k.
Maybe I'll dive into the HG job but I don't think that would fix the low compression right?
UPDATE (weak cylinder): 04 D2 Running hot under load
Update on the truck... Just before the Labor Day trip to the Southern Sierras I thought the problem had been solved. However the truck ran warm the entire drive from Carlsbad to the southern sierras and back home. Actually had to pull over...
UPDATE (weak cylinder): 04 D2 Running hot under load
Hoping Dweb team can help provide some logical next steps to fix this issue. Planning a short trip to Baja during labor day weekend and hoping to get this problem rectified.
History and equipment:
2004 D2
Owned the truck since 2008.
Lifted...
Drove the truck a bit more today and it has some strange spikes. I'm wondering if the new fan/clutch combo is faulty. Didn't have that much resistance when the motor was warm...
The grey T-stat has lowered the temps to around 197-204 under normal driving. It did spike to 215 on the highway (80 degrees out) going up a grade. But the truck seems to go back down to lower temps fairly quickly.
Heading to Lake Arrowhead this monday for a little run. We'll see how she does...
Hoping you guys can help me diagnose. I have and 04 D2.
I replaced the following parts (mostly preventative but truck was hitting 234* in the desert):
New radiator: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/PCC000710
New fan/clutch: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/PGG000080
New t-stat...
I have a similar problem with my 04 D2. I have a 3" TF lift and have replaced the springs to see if that fixed the problem with new TF springs but the passenger side still sags. Mainly the passenger rear by approx 1".
THinking of just buying 1" spacer for the rear for the quick fix but curious...
Interesting. As with my case the IR gun vs scan gauge at idle were almost 20* different. Very strange... I had another tech point the IR gun at multiple points in the radiator and all the temps were even and normal.
Going to change the t-stat just in case and add some water wetter.
So would...
