Clean the throttle valve opening and the MAF then reset the adaptive values, down load GEMS ECU APP for Land Rover to Android phone and buy a ELM 327 dongle should correct your idle problem.
Have you checked the oil dipstick for coolant, could have head gasket or intake manifold also front cover leak. Might be worth getting it pressure tested to see where it’s going.
In my experience I don’t remember a time that the oil pressure light remained lit no more than a few seconds. However after an oil change it would stay lit a bit longer while pumping out the air space in the oil gallery.
A pressure tester will give the best results when looking for coolant leak. Coolant reservoir will leak a the seam. Tighten hose clamps first. Then do a pressure test.
From what I’ve read about knock sensors is that the sensors are fragile and the wiring to the sensor is problematic as well. Maybe check the power and ground wire or wires to sensor.
The 2 threaded studs is part the front cover which holds the oil pan in place. Yes to your second question, oil pump draws the oil up thru the pickup screen tube out to the oil cooler then to the oil filter where it pressurizes the gallery to the oil pressure switch and flows into the crank...
A couple of pics of the oil gallery LR V8. On the front cover next to the return oil line there’s internal C clip which holds the pressure relief valve piston. Chased a oil leak and found the Oring on the piston failed FYI.
35xj has got the means, that month trip into Mexico and back, LS engine swap, 300TDI swap that’s impressive. Also helps to have a friend with a suitable work shop on the west coast and have the mechanical ability as well.
