First Rover was a 2004 D2 SE in buckingham blue, tan interior. Purchased from a small dealer in 2009 off ebay from the library of my college. A cherry soccer mom special, well kept with about 60k. Sank it to the axles the second day of owning it then proceeded to overbuilt it for the next few...
In my and other experience Dexcool tends to kill headgaskets on the RV8. I always immediately swapped to standard green coolant with no issues whatsoever
The built in mic has worked out fine for me with calls and voice to text so far.
It’s nice to have wired and wireless as options. But I will take a little lag over having to hook up my phone every time.
Think the biggest drawback is just the small size relative to modern units. Some fat...
Yes, email them with whatever logo you want. They’ll ask for your order # and the software version #. They’ll email you a file, which you save to a USB and plug into the unit. Takes 5 seconds to update. Remove USB and you’re all set. Please that mine turned out very OEM-looking.
Similar limitations you’d have with the standard aux cord. Volume on the knob and steering wheel work but next track, etc are on the screen. Flip from Aux to FM/AM and they’re all fully functioning again
One of the biggest convenience drawbacks of these vehicles is the outdated tech and infotainment. Particularly the Nav screens on the HSE LR3’s. Came across a solution for CarPlay/Android Auto on a Facebook group and finally pulled the trigger myself. All in its $150 or so and am pleased with...
Blue, Jesus hope you’re on the mend buddy.
ERover, my first (son) was born last year. No clue if it’ll kill camping and trail riding or add to it in the medium/long term. We have a no travel ball policy - probably easier said than done now
Demuro reviewed the GX. Didn’t look like back seat had much room given the vehicles size. Kinda a bummer. To add the LC nor the trail model GX are available with 3rd row. Once the pending dealer markups settle down seems like a reasonably priced capable new 4x4 though
171k. Was a Brit(shit) Part PCV replaced with my old OEM PCV. Frustrating part is I replaced it preventatively a few years ago. Of course made mistake not go to OEM (and was told no big deal by vendor). No good deed…
robbyb, also a nice LR4 in your neck of the woods and price range listed on here - https://discoweb.org/index.php?threads/2010-lr4-modified.101688/#post-1136950
To come a bit full circle on this. Issue went away for most of last year but cropped up again over the winter with more frequency (almost once a day) and often thicker smoke in the last few weeks. Last week I swapped in an OEM PCV valve and added some AP-205 snake oil (BMW guys swear by this for...
Very similar to mine. Of course any vehicle of this age/mileage will have some quirks but it’s treated me well. Reliable as hell compared to earlier Rovers
I rarely use it. However, there are some very inexpensive options to swap in a Carpuride screen to get CarPlay, etc. You need the screen (~$170), a fiber optic loop ($10) and aux cord to connect to aux input on back of center console. If I keep mine any longer I plan to install one. Not the...
X2 what Bri said. I am not impressed with the base HVAC in the 5 seater. Seeing the sticker you can see every package to ensure it has low range, EAS, 7 seats, cold climate pack, etc. Just download the vehicle brochure and it will have a breakdown of what is included in each. A bit tedious at...
For some reason I had thought axles on the Gren were a Dana (or similar) where you could go mechanical. Outside of slippery off camber situations, the Detroit Locker/Truetrac combo remains undefeated IMO
Just to circle back since there have been some recent responses, I am an idiot. Pulled everything apart and there was a large crack on the underside of the intake pipe near the baffle, post-MAF. Swapped in one from an RRS (sans baffle) , reset adaptive values and been golden since
Since you have an in-line setup did you by chance drill a small hole in the t stat? That generally aids in getting the stat open from my experience by letting a bit of the hot coolant through. May help lessen the wild temp swings. You will suffer lack of HVAC heat with a 160 stat and can’t...
Saw someone else post about this on a Fb group recently. Don’t know if it resolved but advice from several folks was to check the 2 ribbon connections on each side behind the A pillar trim. Check them and make sure they have power when the screen heater is turned on.
