I was wondering that as well. I have been called away toward the FZJ80 at times but....it just doesn't do the fizz (James May, et al) thing that the Disco delivers in spades. The Toyota is as capable as a dutch carpenter though.

I'm stuck in the vast burned swamp that is the southeast coastal plain...so no trout without a trip. We head up to the mountains twice a year or so to cast for trout.

The stalling must have been caused by the valve spring failing which led to contact between the piston and valve head?

I suppose that is a perfect response on a Disco based forum! I was never cursed with those problems with my last Discovery- Hope I won't be on the next either.

Since the untimely demise and subsequent liquidation of my 96 D1...I have found that I miss it terribly. I'm looking for a new problem, preferably in the southeast and white in color (though that can be compromised.) This will be the basis of a mild build- wheeling, traveling, camping etc...
