Tracking down a tick when cold and put in gear..

Vacuum leak? I've had a tick that only shows up when cold and under load. Mine was the plastic nipple in the throttle body that goes to the right side valve cover.

Exhaust issues, Won't pass WA emissions

In WA they don't actually check the emissions, they plug into the OBDII port and check for codes/live data.

    Recovering Disco 2 seats

The broken plastic fastener for the front and back of the seat bottom upholstery is called a J hook. You can get replacement ones cheap in either metal or plastic. Just fold the material over the edge of the frame and put the fastener over top of it.

    Misfire Under Load

A few other things to consider, if you have been using cheap or low octane fuel you could have a gummed up injector. Also if you have low oil pressure issues and have worn a lobe down on your camshaft... and finally coolant in the cylinder will cause this. Hopefully its just the wires.

ABS - Get Rid of It?

In the absence of a scan tool to power bleed the ABS there is an alternate method... Bleed brakes like any normal car, your pedal will still be soft... Shift your T-case to low range and activate the HDC... speed up enough to let the HDC slow you back down... do this a few times and then...

    what am i looking at?

Actually, only inexperienced people who don't know that Dexcool coagulates and turns to cement inside your radiator when it comes in contact with air use Dexcool.

    what am i looking at?

Initially I was confused as to what the red fluid was, Now I just wonder why the coolant isn't green.

Leaking Brake Master Cylinder On Discovery Series II

You don't need a gravel road or hill to do the final bleed without a Testbook. The procedure once the calipers are bled is to put it in LOW range then drive slowly with the Hill Descent Control on. Get up to say 20mph, activate HDC and allow it to slow the vehicle down. Speed up and repeat...

Can't Get Air Out of Heater Core / Considering Vacuum Kit

I'll add one other tip, When the engine is stone cold, like overnight cold the next morning before startup, open the bleed screw and top up with coolant through the bleed screw. This still may take two or three mornings to get every bubble out but I've found it to work. Also its a good way to...

D1 Oil Pressure Light on idle and heavy leaking

For future reference, There are at least three types of OEM 180 stats out there. The OEM 180 thermostat from AB runs around 12 degrees hotter than the grey OEM one from Lucky 8.

04 D2 Running hot under load

By the way, for what its worth now, You didn't specify but which OEM 180 degree thermostat do you have? There are more than one with the same PEL500110 part number. There is the grey one and two versions of white called OEM 180 degree stats. I've found the grey one to run 10 degrees cooler...

    air in cooling system

Most likely since the system was recently open that it wasn't fully bled of air. Assuming of course you have tried the normal method of raising the overflow tank and filling until coolant comes out the open bleed screw... Then as follow up, a few tricks: When you are up to temp, run the...

Best place to locate a CB antenna?

VHF/UHF hams have a robust repeater network and thus do not need as much power. What was said above about antenna placement is true, no BS. In a perfect world (no such thing) the ideal location would be directly centered on the vehicle mounted to metal... ideal being for best omnidirectional...

    I'm a dipstick

I've noticed that when adding or changing oil you should have the end of the dip stick elevated or out of the tube. Otherwise there will be oil all up one side of it or both giving no clear reading. Add or fill the oil then put the dip stick in and read it.

04 D2 Running hot under load

I would open the bleed screw first thing in the morning, dead cold engine, and see first hand if there is an air bubble in there. top it off through the bleed hole if so. Any air in the system should wind up behind the bleed screw thus an easy place to see and eliminate.

    Poor MPG follow on

Just as an FYI if you are using your odometer to determine your MPG your are very likely introducing a false value into your calculation. Both the speedometer and the odometer are most likely inaccurate just like the fuel gauge... but for different reasons. Even with factory size tires the...
