Use a good 8mm Allen head socket & lots of extensions, but the #1 thing = clean all the crud out of the allen head bolts on the starter and when installing the 8mm Allen head socket make sure it's seated fully into the bolt or you'll just round the allen head bolt out.
I posted a reply to this already, but keep the 04 Interlock Solenoid and remove the 94-02 Interlock Solenoid on the TC. The unit on the 03-04 D2 Linkage is pretty reliable, and easy to bypass if it fails vs the 94-02 setup.
The flywheel shouldn't matter. It's not reading any CPS info. I have a 4.6L GEMS in my 95 D1 and I just swapped over the front cover, and misc hardware that needed to stay. I have a 4.2L ECU just for kicks. It ran like a beast until something in the rebuilt 4.6L decided to fail. I think it's got...
Yep the stuff you buy locally these days is just plain awful!!! I'd only ever use that stuff if it was a life or death situation. Besides that STI, Kingsborne, or heck even making your own MSD set would be a far better option.
I've ran Kingsborne wires and I was very pleased. Their shipping was the only part I didn't care for, but I just looked and they now offer a 16.10 UPS rate vs before when it was nearly 30.00 something to ship.
Yeah my XD took 2 entire days to remove the entire assembly. Bolts had fused to the arm. I used heat, grinder, sawzall, hacksaw, and a 25LB sledge finally had to just drill them out... 2 days for a 30min job.
#1 cause of a sticking TB = throttle body plate is dirty!!!! Not because the TBH was bypassed. I have seen 5 so called stuck throttle bodies so far, and each one was on a D2 or P38. They were still using the OEM baffle in the valve cover which was NEVER serviced vs my PCV Upgrade. I took each TB...
I've done it with the intake intact. I did it with the fan in place, but I did remove the TB and the elbow. Small 1/4 ratchet and misc extensions are your friends getting to the 4 bolts on the elbow. Besides that not hard at all.
You can slap in a Bosch P38 RR Alternator with 1 small modification which can be done 1 of 2 ways. #1 get yourself a Tach from a 96-99 GEMS D1 and simply swap it out in the cluster, or #2 just swap pulleys from the original alternator over to the P38 120AMP unit. I did #1 on my 95 because for...
The T4 that was Ebay a while back was a complete T4 setup. I should have grabbed it.
Yes the Britpart Lynx "legacy" you can still download the software for your Windows based Laptop. It's a great setup. My friend uses it all the time on D1's and besides the 10AS part which is buggy diagnostics...
I saw an entire T4 setup with the updated red VCM setup on ebay a while back for 2500.00 complete. I of coarse had just bought a project LR or I'd have bought it. It included the handheld, Panasonic/Dell Laptop, the VCM, all the cables, and manuals. Everything you needed.
If you look around...
