Fixed the broken stud, much easier than I was expecting. Going to try this again, when loosening or removing the manifolds, does anybody recommend replacing manifold gaskets? I've done it before with the manifold in place mounted to the y-pipe, not a hard job, but not fun either, just curious...
I'm in the middle of replacing the Y-Pipe on my D2 and ran into some issues with leaks. I bought an aftermarket one on ebay, comes in two pieces with the mate between the two halves done with a clamp. I went this route because I thought it might actually give me a slight bit of adjustment if...
I'm debating going to 15w-40 for summer. I tried the Mobil-1 0w-40 this past winter because of the higher zinc content. I've had the truck for 18 years and 108k miles, used Mobil-1 for the past 15 years and she runs great still, no ticking. She does leak though. I don't put many miles on it...
Bled the system again, seems to be fine now. Heat is piping hot and she's running around 190-194 which is a little higher than before when it would settle at 188.6 but it still may need some topping off.
I was actually surprised, the water pump wasn't that bad of a job other than removing the old gasket. I put about 1000-1500 mikes a year in this thing so if I get 5-10 years (if I still have the truck). I'm game for trying it. I've used a lot of britpart stuff on my 67, but every job on that...
I have to admit to buying a Britpart pump, not genuine. I put so few miles on the truck that I figured I try it. I don't think it's the pump though, this pump may not go another 100k, which I'll never come close to putting on it anyway, but it should work. I have an OBD2 scanner on my dash...
Didn't check lower hose, did some reading, hoping this is air in the system, was fine before the pump replacement. Temp got up to 210 when I shut it off. I knew something was wrong once it got into the 190s never gets that's hot unless sitting. Going to let it cool and try bleeding the system...
New water pump fixed the noise but now the truck wants to overheat. Never done that before. Also, tried turning heat on, but no hot air. Must be related, could it be air in the system? System is pressurizing, hoses are hot so coolant is flowing. I'm at a loss On this one
I've got a water pump and viscous fan clutch on the way. The sound has gotten progressively worse over the past few months and I know that pulley wasn't like that when I did the belt, so maybe under tension the pump bearing is the source of the noise.
I'll get a pic of it later, but it's routed right.
PS pulley turns smooth but not easy. Should it turn freely like the AC compressor or water pump? Water pump pulley has about 1/8" of play up and down but turns smooth and quiet. I might have found a water pump ready to fail, but I don't...
My AC compressor pulley moved pretty freely. I need to check the ps pump and the water pump, but I will probably replace the two idlers, cheap and easy to do.
I'm trying to verify which idler pulley is which. I believe the one just below the tensioner is PQR500060 and the one between the AC and PS pump on driver side is PQR101150K
Truck has a chirping sound getting progressively louder. Did the screwdriver trick, sounded like the tensioner pulley, but no dice when I replaced it, luckily that's a cheap one. Could be one of the idlers but it really sounds like the AC compressor. The only thing is that the AC works and...
For the series experts out there, can the brakes be switched back by simply changing the back plate or are there more components behind the brake plate that might be specific to the model? I'm not sure if some previous owner just upgraded the brakes or actually swapped the axles out. The drums...
I think I figured it out since I have 3" brake shoes. It looks like I have the brakes of a 2.6l 109" or stage 1 V8. My best guess is that somebody swapped the front axle out. Way overkill and making this job unnecessarily expensive and complicated.
So my master cylinders gave out causing a nice paint stripping leak all through the driver side footwell. Anyway, everything in the hydraulics was looking pretty rough so I decided to do a modest refurbishment of the whole system. Anyway, when I pulled the front brake drums I noticed that I...
How much for the sliders shipped to 23421? Does it have a gray interior? Looking for the clock assembly, mine has crapped out. Might be interested in instrument cluster cover if unbroken. Probably more, but I need to think about it.
Mine has 99K, it's a third car these days, so only put about 1200 miles a year on it, got a discount on my insurance because of the mileage driven which saved some money. Otherwise, basic maintenance and upkeep. The premium fuel is a pain, but I can't complain based on the miles i put on it...
