An easy way to replace the majority of your power steering without flushing. Just add on a bit of plastic hose to your turkey baster and suck out the old power steering fluid from the reservoir. Replace with new, drive for a couple of weeks and do it again. After 3 times, you have replaced about...
Just a nice old logging road to get to this remote fishing community on Vancouver Island. Had to pass a couple of those large articulated dump trucks. Go west from Campbell River to Gold River, then north to Thasis. Drive pass Thasis and you end up in Woss. A fun drive in the fall. Nothing major.
After noticing the odd chirping from the front end, and eventually some shudder through the steering the wheel, my 2000 Disco 2 was talking to me....fix my driveshaft. From looking underneath, the most forward facing u-joint showed shiny in the grove area.
So after putting some WD-40 and...
My solution to sunroof leak was to first clean glass and outer gasket. Snug up T-20 bolts of sunroof arms and glass. Removed headliner around the sunroof only and tightened the T-15 sunroof frame bolts. You will need a small flashlight that can be supported between the headliner and roof, and...
Here is my story on how I found and fixed the sunroof leak on my 2001 D2....without removing he headliner. The leak was a small one, but identified in the back passenger corner of the rear sunroof. The vehicle is parked with a slight uphill slant. So every time I backed down the driveway and...
Cleaned the throttle body. CNC Throttle Body Cleaner with a rag and some Q-tips did a good job. Do this job when the engine is cold.
When the VC gaskets need replacing, I will work on the PVC then. Thanks for your support and ideas.
On the D2, it is a simple 2 hose and a weird nipple system. You can either replace the components, or shoot some carb cleaner down the hoses until they run clean, and take an old toothbrush to the nipple itself with some more carb cleaner.
Any thoughts or comments?
I just had my auto trans speed sensor replaced. That error code is now gone. Speedo and odometer do not work, but the gear selector portion on the instrument cluster still works. Bad connection at Slabs ECU? cable?
In my automatic 2001 D2, moving the gear shift leaver from Park to Drive sometimes does not engage. I notice a difference in brake pedal pressure before I more the leaver. On first try, the brake pedal pressure is less and the leaver does not more. On the second try, there is more pressure on...
Good advice. The trans and oil lines have been replaced. I like the idea of the fill and drain twice. Same principal worked well on the power steering in using a turkey baster. Drain and refill and few times.
Thanks
After awhile, you do get used to no speedo, and the rev counter is a good visual on speed. A wet finger outside the window also helps. I am in the process of getting a replacement sensor for my D2. A bit of a pain to get at, but at least I get to do a transmission fluid and filter change.
