New here, first question about bad idle 96 4.0.

I had one do this because a previous owner adjusted the throttle or cruise control cable to hold the throttlebody open slightly. I twisted the adjustment collar and down the idle went. Just something else to check.

    Coolant - Disco 2

No, you should not mix Zerex G05 with Dexcool. If you're married to the orange sludge, that's what you need to "top off" with. You can get "universal" coolant, but Dexcool doesn't play that well with it and you're at the parts store already.

    Coolant - Disco 2

Green coolant is ok. If I buy a Rover that's running it I'll keep it that way until a rebuild or flush. Zerex G05 is my gold standard coolant for aluminum engines.

Forward gears all just stopped working! I'm stuck!

It's very easy in the D2/P38. I hate removing the y pipe in the earlier trucks. If the XYZ switch failed I'd expect the gear indicator on the dash to flash. Weird you don't have any feeling of resistance in the lever...unless the cable was damaged? Knock on wood, I think these ZFs are strong...

    Valve Cover Gaskets

Yes. You can access the outside bolts without removing the upper intake/plenum, and it sometimes helps to retorque those bolts every now and then. If you redo the gaskets, consider putting a THIN film of black RTV around the mating surfaces of the gaskets.

    D2 Steering issues after alignment

Having to find a good shop is very tough these days, but a solid-axle setup is the easiest thing to align. I miss my family's shops for free access to alignment racks and exhaust benders. Are there any race shops or 4WD stores near you? I lucked into a tuner shop that does track alignments...

    Heavily Kitted 2013 LR4 w/ HD Package 85K Miles - Atlanta

Just yesterday I thought about putting this thing back in daily driver service since my new office building makes the Raptor an even tighter squeeze. I'll shoot you a PM though.

Dang. Still a good deal though.

D2 Drive Belt Tensioner And Idler Pulley Kit

The fan doesn't have to come off. Just route around it or feed the belt through the blades. This is a very easy job. Lefty loosey right tighty. Not to expand the mission, but how old is your water pump? If your fan wobbles a bit when running, consider replacing the pump while your at it. I had...

1995 Land Rover Discovery (Fully Built) (SOLD)

Was just the driver's door repainted or the whole truck? Was it single or two-stage? Any awkward tape lines? Any rust? What gears are in the diffs?

    CAT DELETE 2004 DISCOVERY 2 V8 4.6L

Back in the day I had a 1.8T A4 with a catless downpipe. I installed two of these, one in the O2 bung and one screwed into it with the hole drilled a bit larger. Then the O2 was installed in that. I swear I bought it that way........ Oddly enough, when someone liberated a converter on my 04 D2...

    New Land Cruiser

I could stomach the Lexus sister, but that thing looks positively plastic for $56K. According to Doug DeMuro the Lexus rides like the old body-on-frame Lexus GX rode. The twin turbo 6 that looks good on paper isn't near as peppy in action, so I'd bet that turbo 4 is going to struggle. The Tacoma...

LR3 took a tumble at the border

That was a good one, though the Argentinian leg got them in hot water. Apparently the failed invasion of the Falklands still stings some of our friends down south. The Jaaaggg in the most recent GT episode, Sand Job, has me wanting an offroad-ified Honda S2000. It'd be like the Miatas and 924s...

2" RTE springs and OME shocks

Are these for a D1 or D2? If the former, any idea on age/condition? Any pics?

LR3 took a tumble at the border

I enjoy their videos as well. It was funny watching them realize how hefty the LR3 is.

    Exhaust system

I installed the muffler delete pipe on my 04 D2 and it is very loud on cold starts. The engine is a LR crate with a cam, which shouldn't make a difference. Sounds good under throttle though.

An (alleged) history of Safari Gard

Very interesting. One of the reasons I bought my RRC from the other side of the country was that it had nearly the whole SG catalogue on it (and it came with a copy of the actual catalogue lol). Not sure how you patent a bumper, even a specific bumper, since it's all derivative fabrication...

LR3 took a tumble at the border

Looks like it was a well equipped truck. Some cultures stole the wheels and a slider.

SOLD 1994 D1 3.9 35s GBR Built Axles, Ashcroft, Warn Winch, ARB lockers, RTE Lift Kit w/bumpers and more OBO SOLD

I thought the same thing. There was a RRC with super duty axles for sale on Pirate many years ago. The 3.9 was spinning 42" IROKs with 5-something gears. Gearing can make all the difference. I kick myself for not picking up that RRC.

RRC owners/lovers: Please share details of your reference RRC stereo system upgrade

I'm not much of an audiophile, so I can't be much of help with the amplifier and subwoofer wiring. However, one of my RRCs came with a pretty neat aftermarket set up where the jack would be. It's pretty period so the sub needs to be replaced. I did install a Blaupunkt SQR 46 in another RRC and...
