I've got the rear view mirror off, but I can't get the plastic cover to come off. Does it slide one way or is the whole thing glued to the window? Anyone have a photo of the base mount thats actually glued to the windshield?
Love it. Ive never heard of a Slimline rear bumper from RTE. Is that no longer made? I see a few models he still offers, but they dont have these lines.
I recently picked up a parts truck with 5x BFG KO2 tires w/ Method 701 wheels. The tires have around 5,000 miles on them and are practically new (about 2 years old). The owner was sick of sinking money into the truck so I took it off his hands after he ran into an engine problem (turned out to...
I ran into this document earlier in the week completely by chance. It's an account of Safari Gard's history according to Scott Yohman, the new owner of SG. Of course, much of this can be taken with a grain of salt, but i've heard variations of many of these tales over the years. I figured some...
Selling a Safari Gard front bumper and skid plate for a Discovery 1 and 2.
This is from the latest iteration of Safari Gard so the bumper is less than a year old. The skid is brand new, never installed. I had this on my D1 until I swapped to an RTE bar that I prefer more.
Crazy, but SG has...
Man, I didn't think I needed to cut the back, but those Toyo mud terrains are so knobby that they inevitably kept clipping when on flex. I'll have a new rear bumper soon that will force me to cut even more ;)
Just as a final note, I agree with @rovercanus about RTE. It's worth the extra cash if this is a longer term investment. Shocks, go with OME and you'll be fine.
Ya basically just the shocks, springs, and the extended brake lines (and the lines are technically optional).
If the driveshaft hasn’t been replaced so it can be serviced (greased), you might as well take care of that too, but obviously not required for the 2” lift.
Just keep in mind that you...
This is what RTE recommends you change when you go to 3”+
Extended Brake lines
ABS extensions
Adjustable panhard bar
Rear Watts linkage
Caster corrected radius arms
Double Cardan driveshaft (although I’ve seen people stick with their OEM)
You’ll probably want to remove your sway bars too (or...
I know you're driving a D2, but on my D1 I have never regretted going with a 2" lift. Not sure why i'd ever need 3" unless I had a much more intensive build planned.
Tires are 235/85R16
Top photo is running King springs (Australia) with a 40mm (1.5") lift.
Bottom photo is running RTE springs...
I think you're referring to the Coscast blocks. @special ed wrote something about these on Insta a few weeks back:
"In my book the holy Grail of engine blocks. I have only found 3 or 4 of these over the years building and working on Rover engines. I've seen hundreds of blocks. Mind you this is...
