I have only removed the transfer case on a D2. I just want to recomend that you get some long studs the size of the mounting bolts, to help you align it when you put it back in. Some nuts to pull it forward also helps. A cheap Harbor frieght transmission jack also helps a lot. I built a plywood...
So far it looks like the wires are ok, they are in the plastic conduit. I don't think they had enough time. Now there is a trap under the engine, on the plastic cover, and poison bait under the air filter box.
Pack rats are the worst thing about living in a natural desert enviorment. There are...
Opened the hood. Rats moved in. I hate rats, a few days without driving, and packrats move in. I dont know if they caused my problem, but now I have to inspect wireing. Off to the store to buy lots of rat poison!!!
Steve
I went to Harbor frieght to buy some fish tape to try and use it like a coat hanger to open the door.
When I got home, the locks worked!!! The only thing I can think is that something got wet. We got an inch of rain this morning, and my windshield leaks. Will investigate.
Thanks,
Steve
It was superlocked. I just noticed that I can arm/ disarm the alarm, just the locks are not working.
I will see if I can fit a hanger in.
Thanks,
Steve
I tried to get in to my Discovery today, and I can't. The radio control and manual key switch won't work.
I thought my battery may have died, so I crawled under, and measured 12.36 V at the starter. I was going to charge it from the starter cable.
To top it off, all my metric tools are locked...
I don?t have a lot of experience with the cam and valves. Would the engine even run when the lifters have no oil pressure? Will it have any power to get out of the way of a semi? How long before the engine dies with no oil pressure? How long before the bearings are trashed?
I like the buzzer...
You do make a good point. A buzzer may be a better option. An interlock like this is common in carbureted engines with aftermarket electric fuel pumps. Pump manufacturers include instructions with the pump. Holley makes a pressure switch just for this purpose.

It would be nice to have some more specific information from Land Rover on the problem. How far are the dowels from there specified location? What direction? When do they fail statistically, min, max, mean? What is the percentage of engines in the S/N range that have the problem? Was there one...
I believe the holes in the block were drilled wrong. Land Rover was replacing the engine when they failed under warranty. I'm thinking that I may be able to measure the gap between the crankshaft and the timing cover to see if mine is centered. From what I have read, most failed early. I have...
The problem was a misalignment of the dowels that locate the cover. http://www.landroverresource.com/docs/lrna_tsb.pdf
Peter, did you see ware in the cover, any damage to the gear?
I have read posts by Land rover technicians that they would take warranty exchange engines, remove the dowels...
I have been getting paranoid about my oil pump again. :banghead:
Atlantic British sells an oil pump gear for the Disco 2. http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/8979K.cfm
My 03 Disco is about to hit 100k miles. I assume that the pump gear has worn away some of the timing chain cover if it has the...
I had the same problem. I installed a new defective Bosch O2 sensor. While trouble shooting, I turned off my multimeter while connected to the wiring. The switch passed through the ohm meter function, applied a few volts to the input and ruined the input to the computer. I replaced the computer...
I took it to an independant shop with Testbook. They installed it for $100. They copyed the EEPROM using Testbook. The only isseue is that the VIN in the computer could not be changed, so if anyone connects Testbook, they need to know that vin number. When I connect my scanner, it shows the vin...
Sounds like you may need to adjust your shifter cable. Also the shifter knob will pull off. For testing you can remove it and see if it works. With no knob, it should shift with out the button being pressed. The knob is hard to pull off. I think it has to be in N or D to do it. I just had mine...
