    2004 discovery charging

Hi, I have a newly purchased 04. It had a new battery and new valeo alternator in it. Doesn’t seem to be charging. Only getting 12.4 volts while running. Is ther an exciter circuit or fuse that would cause it not to charge? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Top hat liners?

Wow, 1500 for a sleeved block? That seems a reasonable price... Rebuilt heads and a gasket set... Better than 5000 for a long block.. And thanks for all the info! This is for the 2004, and yes the 1995 still runs like a top but the floors have cancer..

    '04 block numbers

Yeah.... I don't think even pimps would be using "peeps"... Just trying to be friendly. (So much for that) just did a compression test on at least the bank I can get to easily. Bank two are all just cresting 90 psi. Sounds very low, but I'm chalking that up to the cheapy harbor freight tester...

    Dry gasket or wet?

Replacing the oil/water pump on the "new" 04 4.6. I siliconed the water pump, in addition to the gasket, and the oil filter adapter. Question is, do I need to do the same to the cover gasket also? I realize prolly overkill... Silicone/gasket/silicone/cover... But thought I'd throw this out...

Why do we do this to ourselves?! We tip toe around some odd engineering choices, will this one fit my truck? It's off by 3 months but still looks the same... Lol..
