Hi, I have a newly purchased 04. It had a new battery and new valeo alternator in it. Doesn’t seem to be charging. Only getting 12.4 volts while running. Is ther an exciter circuit or fuse that would cause it not to charge? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, 1500 for a sleeved block? That seems a reasonable price... Rebuilt heads and a gasket set... Better than 5000 for a long block.. And thanks for all the info! This is for the 2004, and yes the 1995 still runs like a top but the floors have cancer..
that's kinda what im trying to decide which direction to go. I just picked up the vehicle knowing it was going to be a project. great shape and zero rust.. very worth it.. but, if I go used motor I don't know the history... if I go rebuild existing motor, I can do good liners and such and know...
Just looking fwd to a bigger repair. Misfires cyl 2 5. New... Lots... And just moved injectors and no movement of misfire... So next is head gaskets, valves, cracks or slips.. Just checking the best direction..
Thanks
Yeah.... I don't think even pimps would be using "peeps"... Just trying to be friendly. (So much for that) just did a compression test on at least the bank I can get to easily. Bank two are all just cresting 90 psi. Sounds very low, but I'm chalking that up to the cheapy harbor freight tester...
Hey peeps, just the next step in my Don Quioxte like quest for the dream.. Cheap pickup and a little work and bam!! Great vehicle! I picked up a '04 w 4.6 w with a noisy engine. $1800! Turns out oil pump/ pump cover. :( and the dominos begin... Oil pump/ cover.. Pump was like marbles! But little...
I thought there might be an update for this from the searches. Looking for a good iPhone app to read the elm327 wifi reader? There's quite a few out there but I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for our trucks! 2004 discovery btw... Thanks!
Replacing the oil/water pump on the "new" 04 4.6. I siliconed the water pump, in addition to the gasket, and the oil filter adapter. Question is, do I need to do the same to the cover gasket also? I realize prolly overkill... Silicone/gasket/silicone/cover... But thought I'd throw this out...
Why do we do this to ourselves?! We tip toe around some odd engineering choices, will this one fit my truck? It's off by 3 months but still looks the same... Lol.. In the case of the viscous, why not just swap it out entirely w a 10" (?) electric?! Seems a good alternative.. Btw just read the...

it a great choice! just use a brass barbed 90 n heater hose.works fine is not any louder the stocker that i notice. works great! reports of loud pumps may just be improper installation with restriction in hose.
mine is making the same noise!! i've tracked it down to the passenger side catalytic converter. use a mechanics stethescope, from harbor freight 5.99, to confirm...
