so... to eliminate this further. should I get some sort of limited slip or locker. Will it render the TC useless?... And yes I do have a cdl. and I know how to use it.

Swedjen2: you might be on to something with the "working" tcase, as I do not have reverse. But all forward gears work just fine.
What? T case will move the truck in forward or reverse as long as the trans has reverse.

We need all the juicy details from Synchro...

Oh, they simply answered every one of my questions individually and I wanted to be sure nobody ran off thinking they never replied. I try to illustrate positive experiences just as much as negative experiences, as people rarely do, and I hope overall that I keep my impressions fair and indicate where I dip into opinion.

They seem to suggest that the cases will be repaired as required by them through the two year competition warranty (that takes some damned meaty balls after seeing what those lunatics do to their drive lines), and they support service on a ship-in, tow in, haul-in, or drive-in basis. That's what they indicated, anyway; maintenance and service if you can get it there.

Obviously that's more beneficial if you live over there, and if you do those competitions they enjoy. That's kind of like my computers, though... I give a ten year warranty because I know I won't ever receive a call. If it's going to break, it'll break before I send it out. I've never built one without deliberately frying stuff until it just can't be fried without opening the case and actually trying.

You've got to remember that they're kind of treated like Wranglers over there. People like those lightweight fiberglass bodies and bouncing around strange courses. I guess it's like a British KOH thing. It's hard to tell who will back up what if something goes wrong, at times, as there are a lot of "local" shops that all think they have the best solutions, and it's less standardized and national than what we have.

I'm still trying to figure out why I think Syncro used to be much bigger. I'm missing some piece of information, there.

Basically, they do everything you'd want. I'm still waiting to see if they'll do that upgraded rebuild, because they are quite clear that they only sell the ULTRAspec now, but they never said they don't rebuild a customer case as required. The answer to that question is what I hope to receive next week.

Is it cost-effective? Absolutely not. I don't think anyone here really needs it. That said, a more stable rotating assembly will help the case last longer and help prevent input and output leaks over time. That's my hypothesis, anyway; and the reason I'm considering it.

It's just longevity stuff, for me. If I was actually going to break one, I'd have done it already, I assure you. 🤣

I noted that earlier, but I may have buried it. I think he's somehow under an erroneous impression into how this vehicle's all wheel drive system works.

They probably couldn't compete with Ashcroft on the basic and mid-spec LT230's. Looks like Ashcroft got in the business first, made a good product and world-wide reputation for themselves, while Synchro is mostly a U.K. concern. They make good products, but lack a good marketing dept.
