I have been looking in all the sections trying to find out what the specs are on the 16 inch rims on my 02 SD. I can not seem to get the info ( or do not know where to look !!). Does anyone know if I can fit 18 inch rims from a 1999 Range Rover ?

Don't know the specs, but the answer is yes. I run the 18" hurricanes in the summer and a set of 16" P38 wheels in the winter.

They should fit. I went to Discount Tire today to get some 265/70/16 BFG ATs for my 01 RR. I got the 16" rims I'm gonna use from a DII. Anyway, the guy at Discount Tire looked at the rims on his computer to make sure they had the same measurements. He said the 16" DII rims should fit on my RR. So, I think you'll be fine putting 18" RR rims on your DII.

Why do you want 18"? 16" rims seem to have so many more tire choices for off-road use.

easy, just take your spare tire (if it's the same as the other 4) off the back of the truck. lay it down on the ground with the back side up (the side that would mount to the hub). then take a straight edge, square something similar and lay it across the edge of wheel. do not lay it across the tire itself... rim only. then take a measuring tape and measure from the bottom straight edge to the face or the mounting surface of the wheel.. and what ever the measurement is , is the back spacing

The only reason I am looking at the 18 inch rims is that I found an inexpensive set locally.

Thanks for the info. I was being a bit lazy not wanting to take a tire off. I never think of the damn spare!!

Since it's a local seller, if you really want to prove it to yourself, ask the seller if you can test fit. I've sold many sets of wheels, and I always let the buyer test fit first, if they bring all their own tools.

i know this thread is ancient, but i'm looking for the exact offset of the 03/04 16" rims and the offset of the 99-02 Mirage 16" rims.

All the D2/P38's, the 16's and the 18's, have the same offset (same width and offset of every style, the mirage 5 spokes are exactly the same as the 03/04 6 spokes)... Although I don't know the offset off the top of my head...

ok. well mirage rims given the right tire size can rub on the 03/04 discos while the 03/04 6 spoke 16s" wont....

so maybe its not the offset? is it the back spacing thats different? i'm not entirely sure if i used the correct term.

something is different between the mirage 16s" and the 6 spoke 16"s.

It's not from the rims.

You can run the exact same rims and tires on two different trucks and one might rub and the other won't. Just depends on the truck and how the steering stops are adjusted.

It's the same as on RRC's, D1's, and Defenders. All the alloy's are exactly the same, they just look different.

I have no idea about the BMW rims, but I know for a fact all the genuine alloy rims are exactly the same. A while back I had a few "mirage" ('99-'04 16") rims and the '03-'04 16" 6 spokes sitting right next to each other and there was no difference other then the "styling".

But here is a picture of some guy with what appear to be some sort of BMW rims. No idea on the specs or anything, I just found it in the photo gallery...

pnorvell's 16" wheels and 255/85s don't rub, while i have the exact same tire and the mirage 16" rims and rub the front pass radius arm and rear fenderwells before i cut them.

For the BMW wheels, you have to use the right lug nutz and the hubcentric rings that most run when upgrading to 03+ rr wheels.

that pic looks like 330 or 530 wheels. not sure if i have ever seen them on an X5...

I'm running the bmw rims and they are the same offset as my factory 18" hurricanes. Yup, they are from the 530. They are pretty stout and look great I think.

...looking for 1 more, for my spare.
