1990 RRC County brake problem/hiss

Hello All,

I have a 1990 RRC County with ABS.

A couple days ago I noticed my brake and abs light light up at a traffic light. Have not had this happen before. When I made it home I was testing some scenarios.

If you lightly hold pressure on the brakes, everything seems normal. If you hold a firmer pedal pressure, you can hear a slight hiss from inside the dash. Then the dash lights (ABS and Brake) turn on. If you lighten up the pressure the system goes back to normal. The brakes seem to function fine otherwise.

What do you think?

I am also on a trip with the Rover up in Alaska and have a limited toolkit with me.

I tried to search this scenario and could not match it in the search.

Update:

Seems to be an intermittent problem. I was out tinkering on the RRC this morning and the brakes are working just fine. However, intermittent brake issues are not super desirable.

Good thing the emergency handbrake does work very well if needed.
