I bought this with a bundle deal that included another XD. Here's the 411:
  1. Its rusty as hell (see video link)
  2. Im not sure why it doesn't run. It was part of a bundle buy. The previous owner is completely Rover incompetent.
  3. The roof rack and skid plates are there. So are the black castor rims (just not on the truck). The front brush guard was busted off.
  4. Crusty old school Safari Gard rear bumper
  5. It is a legit XD with the SVO plaque under the hood.

Some body God save the Truck
Unfortunately, it may be beyond saving. It would be a best to build a "clone" with the panels. Or spare parts for somebody.

It's looking more likely that I'll part it out. I'm not sure what & how much I want to keep. The rack and skid plates would be the first thing to go.

The other truck is unfortunately only slightly better. There isn't the big holes in the rear fender wells. But the rockers and front floorboards are toast. The rear tailgate area is suprisingly just a little surface rust. It will be a slow and amatuer "restoration" project. It will be my first real venture into cutting and welding replacement parts.

I have been tempted to buy this but wouldn’t save it. It would just be for parts. Hoping someone else would find a way to save it.

If you are at the point of giving up finding a savior for it, could you post up some interior pics to help show its parts value?

Maybe some of the rack and other areas?

So what’s the reasonable price for a clean low version SD rack???

I bought a low SD rack for my old D1 in 2003 for $700.

The average annual COLA adjustment for the years 2003 through 2020 is 2.04%. Taking this into account, $700 in 2003 would be $1,007.64 in 2021.

Buy the whole truck for a grand, Stu. Then you have the rack, skid plates, black castor alloys, whatever remains of the $G rear bumper, and you can cut out the Special Vehicles plate and hang it on your wall. Recycle the rest for a few hundred bucks.
