Hi, just purchased a '98 LE and the front windshield needs to be replaced. From what I'm gathering the rubber surround trim pieces are impossible to find. Are most shops able to use the existing surround if they are careful? The pieces appear to be in really good shape. Thanks for your input.

I had my windshield replaced on a D2 back in 2015. The window tech was able to reuse the surrounding trim. They applied their industrial epoxy along with the old seal and it was good as new.

Those finishers generally cannot be used again without considerable risk of leaks. That is not an absolute however. They can be found FAR cheaper in the UK.

LRdirect.com

you'll need:

AWR2023
AWR2024
AWR2025
AWR1512

Also, if you are taller than 5'1", be sure NOT to get the dark tint across the top of the glass. I had one with that driving at night was a pain. Reading street signs was impossible. The roofline is low enough.

It's worth shopping at the UK suppliers. I bought new windshield rubber for my RRC from Rimmer Bros. and it was pretty reasonably priced, including shipping.
