The fuel costs is what will make me do a fly-and-ride if my buddy can't make it.

Regarding the dates, I'm cool with these. But if we needed to bump it forward or back a week, I'm fine with that as well.

I'm still in. I'm not missing out on an opportunity to see the best parts of Utah. Those dates work for me and so does that possible weather. I just checked what my fuel budget should be and.......ouch. But it'll be worth it. And I love the NO TRAILERS requirement.

Last year, most of us used about 40 gallons for the actual group trip. Unless you were Jason with the three hundy, in which case you used about eight gallons. :bigok:

I suspect that we'll use a little more this year but it shouldn't be too bad.

So, for trucks, we have...

(1) Chris Snell
(2) Jason Rose
(3) Bill Gill
(4) Ben Little + passenger
(5) Peter Matusov
(6) Kevin Day
(7) Stuart Ivie + passenger
(8) Alex Civick
(9) Jim Sanville
(10) Erik (DC DII)

We usually lose a couple of trucks before the trip so if you're not on the list and you're interested, post up.

I'm sure we also have some passenger seats if someone wants to fly out for the ride.

before I left.
What size tires do you recommend for this trip I'm running RTE 3'lift
more like 4". I was looking at 265 or 285-75-16's mud guards
from Tread Wright .
Thanks
Jim

Jim, if you're buying tires, I would buy whatever brand Jason Rose runs. :) As far as size goes, I'd buy the size that Ben Little runs. I have 285-75-16 KM2s and I hate them. They are too wide and too noisy. Ben's tire size (265-85, I think) is perfect.

255/85 and there are only 2 tire companies that make that size (as far as I'm aware).

BFG and Cooper

I found a tire that I just might like enough to prefer over LTX M/S: BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Traction:

at Discount Tires.

Regarding tires, would AT's coupled with CDL and working traction control cut it?
Like a boss. I made it up some pretty ugly stuff without the CDL last year. I was cursing like a sailor but I made it. Bill crawled the same stuff with ATs and a CDL and straight up embarrassed me.

Yeah I've had it on my agenda since May but life has been in the way. We'll see. Believe me, after seeing you guys walk up what I fought, there's no comparison.

$200 shipped, lockable LT230's in the vendor section.

Then grab a DI shift linkage and you're done.

(my best peer pressure voice) 'Come on, everybody's doing it.'

I have an '04 linkage that I plan to install on Saturday.

Sitting here drinking Tatanka coffee from the Snow Peak mug, wishing I was on the trail. We really need to make this a biannual event. Nine months is just too long to wait.

I've got it bad.

I've priced flights in case my friend can't make it, looked at maps, and planned a scenic route to Hanksville. I'll work myself into a lather if I'm not careful.
