My thoughts exactly, and even the 2020 has much more of a connection than it's stablemates.

I'm sort of seeing the Sport as the new Range Rover. The Range Rover itself is some manner of halo vehicle at this point. I don't think I'd buy one.

The L320 held up well. The thing looks as old as it's ever going to look right now.

That said, a clean, polished P38 in silver is still drop-dead gorgeous. I'll be getting one before people actually realize how timeless they are.

Cheers,

Kennith

There's so much to be wary of in that car but, in retrospect, it really was a car ahead of its time.

That really sums up the P38 - lots of tech ahead of its time, it almost tried to do too much. When it worked, it was amazing. It's just too bad Land Rover didn't spend another year developing it and sorting out the quirks. With a bit more refinement and improved reliability the P38 would have been a Land Rover for the ages. A GEMS P38 is on the list of trucks I'd like to have in the stable.

That article is funny if it thinks that is going to compete with the Wrangler and the upcoming Bronco. Shows that my prediction on Defender line becoming the Land Rover model lineup and Discovery likely going away. It’s a shame McGovern has messed up the brand so much with his my way or the highway attitude.

Evoque sales are the only ones that will be affected by a baby Defender. The ~11k a year in the US is not enough to make this baby Defender the mega hit JLR needs not will it’s creation be made up for by the ~50k per year Evoque sales in Europe. Because they certainly aren’t going to be stealing sales from the Tiguan, Yeti, and Escape buyers with the baby Defender.

It’s fun to watch how poorly this Defender re-launch is going. From the weak trickle feed that became less and less exciting to the wannabe Fyre festival they really are trying so hard to sell us these minivans. It’s not terrible as a vehicle at the end of the day, but no matter how many people try to say the price is reasonable based on inflation adjustments for an older Discovery brand new it’s reasonable, it is not. The price at this point with all their automation in production should be cheaper. They just choose to load it up with bullshit and gizmos and nonsense and make it at the price point they want for their namesake.

From this photo, I'm cautiously optimistic....

That's crossed my mind more than once, but to be fair... The Flex is what many people should be driving instead of SUVs.

The wheelbase and shoulder line make it a pain around town, but it's a hell of a hauler.

Cheers,

Kennith

“You realise designers don’t always have to push the boundaries, we need to do things that resonate with our customers.” - Gerry McGovern

From an article in the Sun. They blame Covid-19, but it sounds like they’re preparing for poor sales figures.

On the new Range Rover

“We are taking it back to its purest form with no extraneous detail, it is beautifully sculptured, proportioned and detailed — less is more.”

Oh man, murder hornets. I hope those fuckers don't take hold in the US.
I know. I feel sorry for the honeybees that get their heads ripped off. I like honey; I don't like hornets.

'sounds like the Japanese honeybees have figured out a defense. When one enters the hive, they swarm all over it, beat their wings to generate heat, and cook the fucker. Then they dump the body outside, as kinda a "don't mess with us" marker. Saw a video online. Pretty cool.

I finally got my hands on a couple Defenders. I think you fags are going to have to find something else to hate. This thing is pretty impressive.
