I’m sure some have already seen this but thought it was a good comparison. No doubt the new Defender took a lot of proportional cues from the D3/4 platform then added a bunch of the gimmicky ‘heritage’ aspects of it. Can’t remember was bitching about the cargo door but its pitfalls are clear to see here

I believe it’s similar but not exactly the same. Dual rate air bags (which seem like a good feature), beefed up control arms, and everything tucked up higher (which I’m not sure I really believe). IIRC it’s based on a modified version of the D5 structure as well

The first ones are going to be 1st additions and I think you can spec out a 110. They tell me in fall we can order stripped down 90s

I just talked with them. Hey at least they called me pronto. Order now delivery 2022. Crazy to me. That is a deal breaker. I think I will just get an 06 to 10 Range Rover, but need to unload some vehicles first.

Is that LR4 in North America?

I'm not sure that's accurate Bri. I'll pm you a phone #. Just went up and asked in sales. Nobody is willing to commit on D90's. But my friend just ordered a 110 HSE. It's expected delivery is end of aug. this year. So I'm not sure what they are talking about

You either love Doug or you hate him (I'm a big fan), but here's DeMuro's take. Sorry if this is a repost:

Can someone who has seen one confirm that the alpine windows have a support going up the middle of them? And if that’s true can anyone see a good reason for the gigantic ugly idiot plate in between the second and third window (C pillar area) being as wide as it is? It didn’t bother me as much until now seeing more pictures of the interior.

There is a support there but it’s nowhere near as wide as the box. Zero connection to the original 110 pillar design. The ‘floating’ aspect of it is awful too - make it connect to the body and roof. Part of it is on the rear door too which makes no damn sense. I imagine people will come up with solutions to narrow or eliminate it (Lucky 8) from a visual perspective at least.

Finally had a chance to check out a 110 at the local dealership. It's a great truck inside and out. I think I stand by my initial reaction that this should have been the D5 (or, since we can't go back in time and erase that hideous blot, the D6). Would have liked to have seen LR do what Merc did with the G and just update it to modern spec while maintaining the same form and function. But alas, I don't think any of us ever believed that would happen. Would I buy one? Probably not at these prices but I can see the appeal. However, given that LR is firmly planted as a luxury SUV brand, and Jeep (and soon Bronco?) is firmly planted in the utilitarian category, I don't know how many mainstream buyers they're going to attract. I hope my concerns are ill-founded, as I would like to see both the brand and the model succeed.
