I’m just saying
All car companies seem to be diluting their brands. Remember when BMW had the simple 3, 5, and 7 series? Plus a specialty car like the 8 Series or M1 or whatever. My wife is in the market for a new car or SUV and we started looking at BMWs and we both finally said FUCK IT after trying to discern the difference between the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 series in car and station wagon and SUV form. I understand that they are trying to sell a car to absolutely everyone but talk about muddying the waters. Here's BMW's current "offerings".....I mean....what the serious fuck?

I seem to remember reading an article with an interview from some Mercedes executives where they were saying they are making too many different cars

Hum. After 26 years and a “road” trip to Europe for 5 years still presentable here in PA. View attachment 60686

I'm talking hardware. Jaguar came out and said it about not treating hardware to help save the environment. It was about the time frame of the S type and the X type. So the hardware rusts into one solid chunk. Bolts don't come out. All these trucks rot from the inside out. The fender can look great, but when you get it off the truck the support apron it mounts to will be rusted to hell, the old dissimilar metals thing Rover strugled with.

Yes, I can appreciate the hardware aspect.
No doubt RRC rust from the inside out. My friends in GB say “Tin Worms“.
However one can keep them alive and well - really depends on the care. Mine is 26 years old and the steel sub structure is still in good shape. It now hibernates for the most part during the Winter in a heated garage and is therefore dry.
Hopefully I’m still around to see how the new Defenders fair after 26 years.

No offense, but how does one pack a "picnic" like that and not feel like a douchebag?

Anytime someone starts with “ no offense” somebody gonna get offended.
It reminds me of a great service manager I worked for years ago. He said “I can tell you how the whole transaction is going to go after I hear the first five words out of the customer’s mouth”
He also used to say a good service manager can tell someone to go to hell and have them looking forward to the trip

To enjoy the moment. That picnic basket might be older than you we’ve had it so long.
Just a clarification the wine glasses are not Waterford although always like drinking wine from a glass versus plastic / paper cup. As we were in Switzerland way more ecological than tossing plastic or paper cups. Same for the plates. Why use paper when you can use some old yet decent looking stoneware plates. Also use cloth napkins as they are reusable.
My wife and I both enjoy picnics and with a little more effort usually on her part it can be a very relaxing time enjoying one’s surroundings.
And it is a freaking Range Rover Classic! What else would you expect!

Man D'web sure has changed over the last twenty years. Back in the day this would have lead to god only knows how many pages of f bombs and name calling and popcorn eating emojis, etc. A good thing I guess but could make for some entertaining distraction on a boring winter day at work.

Yes, it could have gone in that direction yet “Pass me the Grey Poupon”. 😁

Lol, 26 years later and still nobody wants a P38 Stew. Early solid axle LRs have shot up in value. I'll be surprised if the Freelander and newer vehicles ever become valued.

Love me my P38. People that don't like them, just don't get what a great vehicle they are. WAAAAAY better than a classic, other than the rare NAS '88. Such a great vehicle for snow. I had mine so sideways the past few days.... so much fun.. way better than d1 on snow.

Mine is still rocking it stock and abused. Knock on gunstock veneer.

2001 H&H, bought here.

P38 looks classic. New Deprender? Not so much.
