I completely disagree. There are much more qualified people doing reviews than this guy. Some of the points you mentioned are down right hilarious! Ill form my own opinion in person. After seeing what it can do with my own eyes.
You live in Charlotte, yet Ive never seen you at any Rover events?
You can spew all your bullshit online. Come outside and actually participate in the hobby you like to just talk about!!

It ain't a hobby for me, poncho. Go play with your toys.

Cheers,

You haven't seen me at an "event" in a while, either. But I've been "off-road" 12 of the last 18 days. I don't think going to weekend "events" makes you a Jedi.
Probably because most people dont like you. Weekend events are just as much about hanging out with good friends as it is about the trucks or wheeling.

And you know this how?

I’ve enjoyed Chapman’s posts for a “few” years on this site.

And wouldn’t mind meeting him personally some day.

Dan dug his own grave over the years. He hasn't been banned from Dweb in a while though. Maybe he's turned a new leaf in his old age.

On the original topic, is anyone tired of the new Defender?

I think that's an important question, because it should be right up there on the controversy list for a long time if they've been clever.

If people grow tired of arguing about it, I don't think that's a good thing.

I'm pretty done with it. All the points are being repeated. Until someone actually gets to test drive/review one and they start showing up in dealerships, there's not much else to say than its underwhelming.

Exactly.

All these "reviews" are of the same trucks parked. The "reviewers" stand next to them and talk about the exterior. No driving. WTF? (I'm assuming there was a line to do the reviews).

I like the looks of it, but at the end of the day, the proof will be in the pudding - how do they drive (on and off-road) and what is the longevity of the electronics? only time will tell.

I've been enjoying it a little bit, actually, because they all have to do it like Demuro this time but, unlike him, they have to be serious. :ROFLMAO:

He is running that stuff like he's the oblivious yuppie version of Borat on the Walmart of car review channels.

It's not a big deal for him, but for people used to more information and access, it results in more obvious comedy; like that poor German fellow a few pages back.

They blew the doors open, and now it's.. crickets. Haven't seen much from Trek either. If they can't even reach me, that's a clear marketing fail.

Land Rover marketing at it's finest.

That's why I mentioned that they wouldn't be able to capitalize on... Well, anything at all, really.

Nah. Driving the wife’s Evoque with the diesel 6 speed and thinking if it drives like this thing I’d take one over here. Never in the US without a Diesel engine. There isn’t any attraction for an uneconomical SUV that is independent suspension all around. Diesel Armada has more to offer in my opinion.
That said, $3k for a TD5 non rusty DII looks very appealing or $5k for a 200tdi swapped series 109...

it is weird how they unveiled and then have gone quiet. Wonder if they’ll go back to the drawing board and wait another 9 years to reveal the same vehicle.

Or possibly waiting to determine the potential buyer response and then going from there.

Folks need to see / drive it first hand.
They usually start selling new models in Europe first. Maybe its all hands on deck for the roll out over there. I know you can only start ordering 110's now. As soon as you can spec out and order a 90 I'm going to do it. I guess after I see and fix a couple I could change my mind. The only 2 upgrades I'm interested in are the straight 6 and air suspension. Adaptive cruise is pretty bad ass, but I think people are going to get used to having it and drive over cars in front of them when driving regular cruise. I've already found myself closing in fast on cars after I get back in my car after driving cars with the system.
