I don't know about low numbers. About 25K Defender 110s have been manufactured up to now (going by the last 6 digits of the VIN, which should be sequential), and if you consider the factory in Slovakia was basically shut down throughout April and May, they've really only been making them for about 6 months. Someone somewhere is buying them.

We have no cars. WE have two remote lots that are usually full of cars. I'm guessing we usually have about 2 acres of ground almost completely covered with cars. Now because of factory shutdowns overseas we have about 12 cars across both car lines. Not sure if it's a sign that we're going to start getting them but I drove past 3 rovers on the way out tonight that just got dropped off.

So that would supposedly make my 2017 Discovery 5 TDV6 HSE with 7 seats and locking rear diff in perfect condition with 37K miles on it worth more at trade in? My new 110 is supposed to arrive sometime next week. I'm expecting it to hit the dealer in the next three days.

my new car is going to look very much like this: P300 built to HSE spec with full leather interior and all of the worthwhile off road goodies

Well if its any indication my service writer wants to buy my car once the dealer takes possession of it - he knows how well its been cared for.
Everybody can say what they like about the D5's but this has been a really, really nice car. Its quiet, comfortable, economical and 450 ft-lbs of torque is big fun. I know getting the Defender is sort of taking a step backward - especially going with the four cylinder gas when I was hoping for a diesel six - but it really meets my needs a little better and I'm sure its going to fit me just fine.

I think that the lack of new cars should make both your vehicles worth more.
When I came back from my covid layoff/ sebatical I was kind of surprised by a conversation I had with a guy who worked for a lease company and his job is to get lease returns run thru the auctions. He told me demand was insane and he was getting big money on everything he sent. Didn't have enough cars to send.
Now 3 months later every high end dealer in our area is having record months. We just sold 130 new cars last month. Not a record but a great month.
To me it doesn't really compute. Times like this make me get tighter with my money. I mean I'm buying soon, but it's time. My "good car" just turned 100k. So now it becomes my car, the new 90 goes to my wife. But if the good car had 60k on it, I would sit this year out.
But bottom line, if you guys wanted to sell the Velar and the Disco5 this would be a great time

Dunno how you guys do it. I have 10k on a Velar I picked up in March.

Do you know how to check the software level of your infotainment system? I'm asking cause some cars I see always stay updated by themselves, others don't. In my shop I've traced the problem down to at PDI ( pre delivery). So if at PDI the tech didn't go in and turn on Software Over The Air, you might have old shitty software.
With key on and vehicle not moving hit settings softkey on the bottom of the screen, bottom selection in that menu should be software. Hit that and then your software level will show. 20B1 is current. If the bottom selection is connectivity and software isn't available as a choice then you are way way behind.
I mention it because you spend a lot of time sitting there by the miles you put on. The new software has been pretty solid and I've seen almost nobody come back with all the usual screens booting slow, booting again, all the shittery. This is something you should be able to download by yo self.

When I drive those my 100 mile round trip I usually get 28 mpg. Thats pretty good in a truck that big. That goofy shape that they copied from the Disco Sport is said to be the most aerodynamic shape they have ever made. It'd hard to beat that new platform. Its the same as a 405 Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. All three are the same damn platform. They are holding up better than the LR4 and old body Range Rover Sports, and LM Range Rovers too I guess.

I got as high as 31 mpg on a trip up I-75 and I-81 last year from Atlanta to upstate New York - over 600 miles on one tank of fuel.
I made it to Pennsylvania before stopping for fuel - big mistake - Pennsylvania has the highest fuel prices in the continental US due to taxes. 50 cents more per gallon than states south of PA and 25 cents a gallon more than New York. Much better to stop at the northern end of Virginia to top up before crossing the Mason-Dixon line. I put bigger more aggressive Cooper AT3 XLT tires on it and the mileage dropped a couple of mpg. Its a fabulous road trip car.

Yes, I am sitting out this year, the next, the next and onward!
The ‘94 RRC has 130k
The ‘96 D1 has 90k
The ‘04 A4 Avant has 90k
The ‘04 Saab ‘vert has 35k
Enjoy driving all of them, all are maintained to the max, no rust, and have 0 desire to change.

Great tip. Thank you. I had 19A. Just ran the update. Don't notice anything different immediately but I’m sure I will as I play around with it.

That's 'cause you're some mook working some mook job. People with money don't have to worry about money. At the last club I was superintendent at a group of brothers would go to the Indian reservations in AZ every winter to gamble. Took the golf pro along. Dude said they went to a Mcdonalds after arriving and one of the guys ordered and asked if they could break a $100 bill. The girl said no, so he ordered everything on the menu to get a #3.

Don’t put a lot of stock in an article that says “ After years of false starts and dashed hopes, and further Covid-driven production delays, the first all-new Defender since 19-freaking-46 is here”.
Hum, Series I was introduced in 1948. And other than a Landy has nothing to do with a Defender.
