I had a chance to Drive Jeff’s loaner from the press fleet this weekend as well as Ralph Sarek’s lifted D90 on 35s. These are bigger than I realized, bigger than my DII in some ways. More pics to come but interesting vehicle. The third front seat was odd.

Quick feedback from looking and driving a couple. Feels like driving an Explorer, big nose, comfortable, very modern feeling. Would be fun as a daily driver maybe. A lot of $$$ to modify. Did not like that the back seats did not fold down like the LR3/4. Shifter feels very odd.
I did not love it or hate it, just kinda meh I guess? Better than the Disco 5.

That shifter takes a little getting used to for sure. It’s the same pistol grip joy stick that’s been in the Range Rover Sport for years

We have a stripped down 90 in transit that’s ALMOST the way I would have built one. Customer backed out of the deal. It’s white with black trim. No locking diff, trailer hitch from factory and alloy 19” wheels.
The only way you can get a 90 is to order one right now, and wait 4 to six months.
Any takers?

I saw a blacked out 110 today on the highway on my way to the junkyard. It looks pretty slick, but I still can't get over how skinny the passenger compartment seems to be.

Incidentally, I also happened to follow a new Bronco Outer Banks edition (full soft top) on the way home.

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, and seems to look a little "cheap" in terms of build and materials. It does seem like it's very easy to modify.

All that being said, the Bronco looks way more like an updated classic Defender.

The new Defender does look like a nice vehicle, but doesn't look like you can do much to it other than slap on some accessories. It just doesn't carry the heritage of the old one over IMHO.

I saw one with a V8 in it last week. It has blue 6 piston Brembos in front. The engine looks like good in there. Somehow it looks roomier than when the same V8 is in a Range Rover.

I could see that, as it's not a slim vehicle below the window sills..

It does seem to taper towards the back, so maybe that's why it seems so skinny when you're behind it?

I was told today I would have to pay list price for that stripped down 90. I’m hoping automotive production gets back up and running by next year. I plan to keep my wife’s car going until then. Right now your going to pay heavy to get anything I would want.

I agree. Modding the new Defender is always going to be small changes for Big Money. The bumper on Steeles 110 just seems off to me.

I parked next to a blacked-out 90 today at the Penske Museum at the dealerships in north Scottsdale. Took one look at the giant shiny black wheels and laughed and went in to look at some real cars.

I’m sure that ship has sailed. These things fly out of here. Last week we all had a chance. Somebody will come in and pay way over list to have it.
Eventually some day/year production will exceed demand like any other new vehicle people initially want. And down the road the leases will end and those will be available as well.

I'll wait. I don't want someone elses early production shit show. Honestly I think it's a great truck. I'm also pretty sure of what probably got past the techs in all the magazine articles posted here earlier. I had my first one of those dash lit up, tcase faults, scary messages on the istrument cluster. The whole 9 yards. Came down to a connector not latched at the climate control module. It's crazy how much that module is doing.

I'll probably hold off on the Defender, even though I really do like it. Its gonna be a while until I move from the LR4 so the next truck is going to be full electric.
